Preliminary data for Indiana Geological Survey (IGS) Bulletin 55, Reduction of Sulfur in Indiana Coal by Washability Techniques, Charles E Wier and Harold C Hutchison, 1977. Fifteen 1-ton bulk samples of Indiana coal were studied in detail by the IGS in an attempt to reduce the sulfur content. Sulfide, sulfate, organic sulfur, and total sulfur were determined for each fractional sample of coal obtained by screening and float-sink methods.

The attached file comprises location and formation information for the Missouri Geological Survey’s conodont sample Collection. The collection is primarily for support of STATEMAP mapping activities in Missouri; however, several conodont samples for other projects are included. As data archiving is evolving for this project, information completeness is variable from one column to the next. Data for the most recently completed STATEMAP grant year will be added as the sample compilation is completed. The physical conodont samples are stored in a conodont archive maintained in the MGS library and available for viewing upon request.

The collection contains location maps, logs, cross sections, geochemical sampling results, geologic maps, and reports. These records are primary source information for 289 rock cores in our collection. These documents complement the rock cores that Lehmann and Associates had earlier donated to the Wisconsin Geological Survey. These documents can be viewed on an online interactive map application at https://wgnhs.wisc.edu/mineral-exploration-in-northern-wisconsin-web-app/ or http://arcg.is/1PaySr.

The collection contains environmental assessment-related information pertaining to the development of the New World Mine adjacent to Yellowstone National Park in Park County, Montana. The proposed mine created substantial public concern and, in 1995, a public trust purchased the property and withdrew it permanently from future mining development. The collection contains over 53,000 pages of geologic, hydrogeologic, and geophysical data represent the most comprehensive extant data set related to this world class Eocene epithermal gold deposit and 1,217 project-related maps.

This collection includes field reports, field trip guidebooks, master's theses, dissertations, maps and other printed material produced by faculty, students and field team from the Department of Geosciences at the University of Massachusetts or produced by faculty and students at the University of Massachusetts in collaboration with other scientists. These documents were printed by the University of Massachusetts Department of Geosciences as part of the Department of Geosciences Contribution Series between 1969 and 2000. There are 76 documents and maps in the series. Most of the documents focus on Massachusetts geology but some include data from the Arctic, the western United States and Africa. A few documents...
The collection is housed in a modern building just off the Montana Tech campus. It is organized in 2,679 drawers and is estimated to contain more than 80,000 specimens including many polished slabs and over 10,000 thin sections. The collection was initiated as early as 1940 and expanded through 1981. The specimens in this unique and outstanding collection are largely from Butte (Montana) underground mines, but a significant number are from other districts in which the Anaconda Company had interests or were visited by Anaconda Company geologists. A variety of specimens were collected by Anaconda Company geologists in their travels. Sample locations from the Butte mines are plotted on min-level maps (scale 1 in =...
