On 10 June 2010, I used a Trimble Geo Explorer to map patches of Otay tarplant on the Mother Miguel grassland. I walked throughout the site, and when I encountered a patch of tarplant I recorded a polygon depicting its perimeter. I considered tarplants more than 2 m apart to be in separate patches, and patches to consist of at least one individual tarplant every 1 m2.

Distribution of an occurrence of Otay tarplant (Deinandra conjugens) was mapped with a Trimble GeoExplorer on 10 June, 2008, on the Mother Miguel grassland area of San Diego National Wildlife Refuge. I looked for tarplant throughout a considerably larger area than the positive results reflected in this layer would suggest (i.e., on both sides of the utilty road that runs past the old San Miguel Ranch House site).

Dataset includes 2013 habitat assessment polygons at Sweetwater Reservoir, San Diego County, CA that meet biotic and abiotic requirements to support Otay Tarplant and thus, constitute existing or potential Otay Tarplant habitat.Detailed habitat assessments were conducted by CBI, TNC, and SDSU within the four designated South County grassland management planning units (Rancho Jamul Ecological Reserve, Sweetwater Reservoir, Sycamore Canyon, and Proctor Valley) to document existing habitat conditions and determine habitat suitability for target species and habitats. Habitat assessment data were also used to (1) identify suitable resource-specific restoration activities within each of the four planning areas and (2)...

These data identify, in general, the areas where final critical habitat for Deinandra conjugens (Otay tarplant) occur.
