NGDC’s U.S. Coastal Relief Model (CRM) provides the first comprehensive view of the U.S. coastal zone integrating offshore bathymetry with land topography into a seamless representation of the coast. The CRM spans the U.S. East and West Coasts, the northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii, reaching out to, and in places even beyond, the continental slope. Bathymetric and topographic data sources include: NGDC’s NOS hydrographic surveys, multibeam bathymetry, and trackline bathymetry; the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS); and other federal government agencies and academic institutions. Bathymetric contours from the International Bathymetric Chart of the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico project...

Approximately 95 square kilometers of area was mapped with multibeam sonar. The survey expanded the extent of mapping data collected by Solmar Hydro Inc. in 2013 under a contract with WindFloat Pacific. When added to the Solmar Hydro data the total area mapped is approximately 140 square kilometers, lying in Federal waters on the shelf offshore of Coos Bay of interest for renewable energy (OCS-P lease blocks 6523, 6524, 6573, 6574, 6623, 6624, 6673, and 6674). Water depths range from 300 to 500 meters and are within the effective depth range of the Reson 7111. The seabed in his area is composed of sand and mud, with rocky outcrops on tectonically uplifted features. The survey was conducted using 12 hour day operations...

This data release contains Rock-Eval pyrolysis, organic petrographic (reflectance), and X-ray diffraction mineralogy data for subsurface Mesozoic rock samples from the eastern onshore Gulf Coast Basin (primarily Mississippi and Louisiana). Samples were analyzed in support of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) assessment of undiscovered petroleum resources in the Upper Cretaceous Tuscaloosa marine shale and evaluation of shale gas prospectivity in the Aptian section of the Mississippi Salt Basin.
This data release contains digital video files from the USGS field activity 2014-607-FA, a survey of the Oregon Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Floating Wind Farm Site in 2014. Video data were collected over 3 days between September 6 and September 9, 2014 using a towed camera sled system. 11.6 hours of video were collected along 18 transects; the mean length of time per transect was 38 minutes. Video operations were conducted by deploying up drift of a target and drifting over it at speeds of 1 knot or slower. The video data were collected in order to ground truth geologic and habitat interpretations of sonar data collected during the same field activity. The video-survey locations were chosen after the sonar mapping...
