The national dataset was clipped to the WLCI envelope by USGS staff. No other processing was performed on the dataset. This map layer is commonly called Bailey's ecoregions and shows ecosystems of regional extent in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Four levels of detail are included to show a hierarchy of ecosystems. The largest ecosystems are domains, which are groups of related climates and which are differentiated based on precipitation and temperature. Divisions represent the climates within domains and are differentiated based on precipitation levels and patterns as well as temperature. Divisions are subdivided into provinces, which are differentiated based on vegetation or other...

Data was digitized from original scribe sheets used to prepare the published Geologic Map of Wyoming (Love and Christiansen, 1985), consequently at a 1:500,000 scale.

This ArcView shapefile contains a polygon representation of the overburden thickness above the uppermost coal in the Deadman coal zone in the southern part (Black Butte area) of the Point of Rocks-Black Butte coalfield, Greater Green River Basin, Wyoming. This shapefile is part of the National Coal Resource Assessment of the Northern Rocky Mountain and Great Plains Fort Union Coal Resources Assessment Area. This shapefile can be shown in relation to other relevant themes of this area. Renamed by USGS staff (original filename: bbovbg)

This ArcView shapefile contains a line representation of faults in a portion of the the Green River Basin. The fault data are part of the National Coal Resource Assessment of the Northern Rocky Mountain and Great Plains Fort Union Coal Resources Assessment Area. The faults can be shown in relation to other relevant themes of the Green River Basin. Renamed by USGS staff (original filename: grbfltg)

This ArcView shapefile contains a polygon representation of generalized geology in the Green River Basin. This geology shapefile was produced as part of the National Coal Resource Assessment of the Northern Rocky Mountain and Great Plains Fort Union Coal Resources Assessment Area. This geology can be shown in relation to other relevant themes in the green River Basin. Renamed by USGS staff (original filename: grbgeolg)

Dataset restricted to the WLCI Area of Interest by USGS staff. This data set represents the Continental Divide in Wyoming.

This dataset was clipped to the WLCI study area by USGS staff. USGS 1:100,000 Topographic Quadrangle Series Indexes represents the geographic extent of USGS 1:100,000 topographic maps (30- by 60-minute quadrangles) for the coterminous U.S. forty-eight states and District of Columbia.

This dataset was clipped to the original WLCI study area (effective 2007-May 2009) by USGS staff. This dataset represents surficial geology of Wyoming at 1:500,000-scale. The layer contains 577 separate surficial feature (landforms) and deposit descriptions present on the surface in the state. Compiled from aerial photography and existing maps this layer represents the first comprehensive surficial geology map of Wyoming.

This dataset was clipped to the WLCI study area by USGS staff. The geologic map was digitized from original scribe sheets used to prepare the published Geologic Map of Wyoming (Love and Christiansen, 1985), consequently at a 1:500,000 scale. Stable base contact prints of the scribe sheets were scannned on a Tektronix 4991 digital scanner. The scanner automatically converts the scanned image to an ASCII vector format. These vectors were transferred to a VAX minicomputer, where they were loaded into Arc/Info. The dataset includes both linear and polygon features, with attributes derived from the original 1985 map.

This ArcView shapefile contains a polygon representation of the Jim Bridger Coal Zone overburden. This coal zone is a part of the National Coal Resources Assessment of the Northern Rocky Mountain and Great Plains Fort Union Coal Resources Assessment Area. This coal zone can be shown in relation to other relevant themes of this area. Renamed by USGS staff (original filename: jbovbg)

Data merged for the WLCI by USGS Staff. This dataset represents soils of Wyoming at 1:100,000- scale. The layer contains 350 separate soils descriptions across 23 Wyoming counties. The layer was compiled based on the five-factor soil forming model using digital surficial geology, bedrock geology, and elevation. This dataset will be more fully documented in 23 AES publications scheduled for completion in winter of 99/00. These publications will use the designation AES Bulletin B-1071 followed by a two letter abreviation for each county.
