These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. Physiography for the Mid-Atlantic Coastal Plain was constructed by standardizing and extrapolating previous physiographic interpretations for areas within and adjacent to the region. For more information, see U. S. Geological Survey Professional Paper 1680.

Boundary of the Rensselaer Plateau as a physiographic unit. Physiography represents the study of landforms at regional levels, usually addressing combined patterns of topography, geology, soils, and dominant vegetation types.

This is a polygon coverage of Physiographic Divisions in the conterminous United States. It was automated from Fenneman's 1:7,000,000-scale map, "Physical Divisions of the United States," which is based on eight major 1946 divisions, 25 provinces, and 86 sections representing distinctive areas having common topography, rock types and structure, and geologic and geomorphic history.

This digital elevation model (DEM) for the Northern Atlantic Coastal Plain (NACP) from Long Island New York to northeastern North Carolina represents the elevation of the topographic and bathymetric surface at a uniform horizontal grid spacing of 100 feet and vertical units of 1 (integer) foot. The land-surface elevations are derived from U.S. Geological Survey 30-meter National Elevation Dataset (NED), and the bathymetric elevations are derived from 3 arc-second (90-meter-nominal) National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) U.S. Coastal Relief Model (CRM). Horizontal coordinates are referenced to the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD 83) and vertical measurements are referenced to the North American...

This data set is an ArcGIS shapefile depicting land segments in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed and adjacent states of New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Land segmentation was based on county boundaries represented by a 1:100,000-scale digital dataset. Fifty of the 254 counties and incorporated cities in the model region were divided on the basis of physiography and topography,...

This tabular data set represents the percent of physiographic provinces compiled for two spatial components of the NHDPlus version 2 data suite (NHDPlusv2) for the conterminous United States; 1) individual reach catchments and 2) reach catchments accumulated upstream through the river network. This dataset can be linked to the NHDPlus version 2 data suite by the unique identifier COMID. The source data is the "Physiographic divisions of the conterminous U. S." produced by the United States Geological Survey (Fenneman, 1946). Units are percent. The "Physical Divisions of the United States," is based on eight major 1946 divisions, 25 provinces, and 86 sections representing distinct areas having common topography,...
