High Opportunity Areas for Cooperative Conservation Actions - Data layers representing a broad array of wildlife and biodiversity plans, programs and priority areas prepared by natural resource entities were combined to identify priority areas for conservation actions. The areas on the map indicate areas identified as a priority for action by one or more of the plans referenced above. Darker shading/higher values indicate(s) areas where progressively more of the plans have overlapping priorities and indicate where partnering to maximize the effect of resources should be possible.

Potential pollinator habitat was derived by ranking land use classifications and grassland quality based on ground truthing and remotely sensed features indicative of remnant prairie. High resolution (10m) land use data served as the basemap (Hartley et al 2017) from which most categories were identified. All known prairie remnants, prairie plantings, and clusters of mima mounds were delineated. Mima mounds were detected by deriving a slope at 1m scale with greater than 5% from high resolution LiDar data (3m). Mima mounds are indicative of areas in which the topsoil has not been significantly disturbed, and therefore have a higher potential to contain native prairie vegetation. Based on an in-depth literature review...

These data represent occupancy estimates for western bumble bee across the western conterminous United States. This product contains five raster layers (appearing as separate bands in a multi-band raster). The first two bands represent the predicted occupancy of western bumble bee in 1998 and 2020. We modeled western bumble bee occupancy as a function of climate and land cover. The last three bands represent future occupancy projections of western bumble bee into the mid-century (2050s). The future projections cover a range of expected changes in climate and land cover and are ranked as best-case (band 3), middle-case (band 4), and worst-case (band 5).
