ClimateWNA was used to downscale historical data and future climate projections to a 1-km 2 grid. ClimateWNA is a program that generates both directly calculated and derived climate variables for specific locations across western North America (Wang et al. 2012) using Parameter-elevation Regressions on Independent Slopes Model (PRISM). We generated annual, seasonal and monthly climate data for the period 1961 to 1990. For future climate projections, we used the SRES A2 greenhouse-gas emissions scenario from the IPCC Fourth Assessment Report. We generated five sets of future climate projections averaged for the time period 2070-2099: BCCR BCM2.0, CCCMA CGCM3, CSIRO MK 3.0, INMCM 3.0, MIROC3.2 MEDRES. Downloads:...
This project used species distribution modeling, population genetics, and geospatial analysis of historical vs. modern vertebrate populations to identify climate change refugia and population connectivity across the Sierra Nevada. It is hypothesized that climate change refugia will increase persistence and stability of populations and, as a result, maintain higher genetic diversity. This work helps managers assess the need to include connectivity and refugia in climate change adaptation strategies. Results help Sierra Nevada land managers allocate limited resources, aid future scenario assessment at landscape scales, and develop a performance measure for assessing resilience.

This dataset depicts the Difference of Winter Precipitation for 2045-2060 compared to 1968-1999 for GFDL. These data have been generated using a regional climate model called RegCM3 using boundary conditions from observations or general circulation models for historical conditions, and from GCM projections for future conditions. Regional climate model description: RegCM3 is the third generation of the Regional Climate Model originally developed at the National Center for Atmospheric Research during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Details on current model components and applications of the model can be found in numerous publications (e.g., Giorgi et al, 2004a,b, Pal et al, 2007), the ICTP RegCNET web site (http://users.ictp.it/RegCNET/model.html),...
These tabular data sets represent mean monthly precipitation (millimeters) data from 800-meter PRISM data for the years 2016 and 2017 compiled for two spatial components of the NHDPlus version 2 data suite (NHDPlusv2) for the conterminous United States; 1) individual reach catchments and 2) reach catchments accumulated upstream through the river network. This dataset can be linked to the NHDPlus version 2 data suite by the unique identifier COMID. The source data for mean monthly precipitation (Celsius) from 800-meter PRISM data was produced by the PRISM Group at Oregon State University. Units are degrees Celsius. Reach catchment information characterizes data at the local scale. Reach catchments accumulated upstream...
This map layer shows polygons of average annual precipitation in thecontiguous United States, for the climatological period 1961-1990.Parameter-elevation Regressions on Independent Slopes Model (PRISM)derived raster data is the underlying data set from which the polygonsand vectors were created. PRISM is an analytical model that uses pointdata and a digital elevation model (DEM) to generate gridded estimatesof annual, monthly and event-based climatic parameters.

Climate data (Average Seasonal Precipitation for Jan-Mar for 1968-1999) were created by PRISM (Parameter-elevation Regressions on Indepenent Slopes Model - prism.oregonstate.edu) on a 2.5 arc-minute lat-lon grid. They are based on historical observations from 1968-1999. We created mean monthly climatologies for that period from the PRISM data, and reprojected the results to the BLM Albers 4km grid. We used these results as a historical baseline climate to de-bias RegCM3 projections. We also compiled annual and seasonal summaries of precipitation and temperature from the PRISM data to allow for simple comparisons with other climatologies.
These tabular data sets represent mean monthly temperature (degrees Celsius) data from 800 meter resolution PRISM for the years 2016 and 2017 compiled for two spatial components of the NHDPlus version 2.1 data suite (NHDPlusv2) for the conterminous United States; 1) individual reach catchments and 2) reach catchments accumulated upstream through the river network. This dataset can be linked to the NHDPlus version 2 data suite by the unique identifier COMID. In order to understand ongoing and future climate change and its impacts on ecosystem services, we must have a grasp on historical ranges of climate variability. Fortunately, detailed weather station data are available in the United States for thousands of locations over the last century. Moreover, sophisticated approaches have been developed for translating these measurements into unified datasets across the U.S., including climate estimates for locations that lack station data. The PRISM (Parameter-elevation Regressions on Independent Slopes Model) Climate Group produces such estimates from weather station data at daily, monthly, and annual time steps, incorporating data from 1895 to the present day. PRISM methods...

PlioMIP is a network of paleoclimate modelers and geoscientists who, through the study of Pliocene warm periods, seek to understand the sensitivity of the climate system to forcings and examine how well models reproduce past climate change. Participants at the PlioMIP2 meeting at the British Antarctic Survey in Cambridge November 2018
ClimateWNA: A program to generate high-resolution climate data for climate change studies and applications in western North America Overview ClimateWNA extracts and downscales PRISM (Daly et al. 2002) monthly data (2.5 x 2.5 arcmin) for the reference period (1961-1990), and calculates seasonal and annual climate variables for specific locations based on latitude, longitude and elevation (optional) for western North America, shown in the map on the right. This program also downscales and integrates historical (1901-2011) (Mitchell and Jones 2005 for 1901-2009) and future climate data (2020s, 2050s and 2080s) generated by various global circulation models. The output includes both directly calculated and derived...
Fire in the western U.S. poses one of the greatest threats to human and ecological communities alike. In fact, fire management is the largest single expenditure of land management funds on federal lands. Now, climate change is altering wildfire patterns. Climate change in the West is creating warmer and drier conditions, resulting in an increase in the amount of dead vegetation available to fuel fires. This project sought to assess the vulnerability of forests in the southwestern U.S. to climate change and wildfire, in order to understand how these ecosystems might become altered as a result. Researchers (a) examined how climate change impacts wildfires in the region, to better understand fire risk; (b) identified...
