These data were compiled as part of a long-term (1964 - 2022) water quality monitoring program at Lake Powell. Objectives of our study were to release a consistent record of long-term water quality data. The 58-year limnology dataset captures some water quality parameters (temperature, salinity, major ions, total suspended solids) from reservoir filling to present day. It also contains a 38-year record of secchi depth, and a ~30-year record of nutrients, phytoplankton, and zooplankton assemblages. The data were collected from various sites within the Lake Powell reservoir and the Glen Canyon dam. Physical and chemical data were collected to characterize water-quality conditions in the Sakonnet River, a tidal strait located on the east side of Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island, from April 28 to November 11, 2018 and from June 19 to November 26, 2019. Specifically, the 2018 information in this data release includes: vertical profiles of water quality from 16 to 18 locations and data collected from three surface spatial surveys (moving boat surveys) designed to characterize near-surface water-quality conditions in the river. This dataset presents cross-sectional measurements of water temperature and specific conductance at varying depths in cross sections located in three oxbow ponds adjacent to the Quillayute River in Washington. Three oxbow ponds in the abandoned meander were identified as having sufficient water depth for conducting water quality cross-section surveys. Each pond name identifier in downstream order is as follows: Gravel Pond (GP), Hockey Pond (HP) and Long Pond (LP). This dataset provides a zipfile containing 20 shapefiles with geo-referenced longitudinal stream temperature profiles (LTPs; .shp). Profiles were obtained from longitudinal “Lagrangian” drag-probe temperature surveys ("float surveys") of the Quillayute River, Washington. Data release provides diffuse light attenuation coefficient of photosynthetically active radiation (KdPAR) derived from in-situ light measurements, along with surface water-quality and atmospheric data collected in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Rive Delta in California between January 2013 and May 2014. These associated surface level water-quality and atmospheric data, and categorical variables (for example season, region, etc.) were used to develop a KdPAR model using in situ light profile data collected in tandem, which we derived KdPAR from.

High-resolution geophysical mapping of Lake Powell in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area in Utah and Arizona was conducted between October 8 and November 15, 2017, as part of a collaborative effort between the U.S. Geological Survey and the Bureau of Reclamation to provide high-quality data needed to reassess the area-capacity tables for the Lake Powell reservoir.
