Riparian conservation areas are land allocations that are managed to maintain or restore the structure and function of aquatic, riparian and meadow ecosystems. The intent of management direction for RCAs is to (1) preserve, enhance, and restore habitat for riparian- and aquatic-dependent species; (2) ensure that water quality is maintained or restored; (3) enhance habitat conservation for species associated with the transition zone between upslope and riparian areas; and (4) provide greater connectivity within the watershed.
