Central Council Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska (Central Council) assisted the Organized Village of Kasaan (OVK) in their NPLCC grant, Traditional Ecological Knowledge and Climate Change project. A survey was developed and used to interview traditional gathers on the time of year they did subsistence gathering.

Research on coastal change in Cook Inlet and South East Alaska has increased rapidly in recent years, making it challenging to track existing projects, understand their cumulative insights, gauge remaining research gaps, and prioritize future work. The project proposed here will identify existing coastal change research in Cook Inlet and Southeast Alaska, and synthesize each projects focus, approach, and findings. The resulting report will document the research landscape for communities facing change, decision-makers navigating change, researchers pursuing projects, as well as funding agencies trying to prioritize where to allocate resources. The Fish and Wildlife Observation feature class represents observations of aquatic and terrestrial animals made by sight, sound, and other detection methods. It includes locations where animals were found. It does not include surveyed places where the animal was looked for and not found. Data originated primarily from the NRIS Wildlife and Aquatic Surveys applications. The feature class includes the observation location on land or water and the attributes defined in this document. Please note that all listed status fields are dependent on FS units having entered status information into the NRIS TAXA application. A null value does not necessarily indicate an unlisted status.

This dataset was created in order to facilitate transboundary conservation work and research projects, by integrating land cover maps into a single dataset from Cape Caution, BC, to Yakutat Bay, AK. This file represents karst formations in the study area.
