Northern Spotted Owl habitat within Western Oregon. When the simple age class of a tree stand proved not to be sufficient in determining spotted owl habitat, BLM district biologists returned to the field during the 1991 field season and revisited all 60,000 Operations Inventory timber stand units in Western Oregon. They classified each stand as a 1, 2, or 3, depending on the type of owl activity present, and added that to the Micro*Storms Operations Inventory database. In November, 1991, that information was used to create this new theme from the Forest Operations Inventory spatial theme.
