Final Report WaterSMART Agreement No. R13AP80033Introduction: Sky Island Alliance is a non‐governmental organization that works to protect and restore the rich natural heritage of native species and habitats in the Sky Island Region. We work with volunteers, scientists, land‐owners, public officials, and government agencies to establish protected areas, restore healthy landscapes, and promote public appreciation of the region’s unique biological diversity.Springs are keystone ecosystems in the Sky Island Region, exert disproportionate influence on surrounding landscapes, and are known to be biodiversity hotspots. Although they are abundant in this arid region, they are poorly documented and little studied. Changing...
On April 13, 2015, the Great Basin LCC hosted a webinar about new Sage-Grouse conservation data presented by the National Wetlands Inventory.Nevada’s wetlands are important havens for local wildlife. Past and current changes in climate and land use practices have stressed many sensitive wetland systems across Nevada, putting the wildlife they support at risk. For greater sage-grouse, wetlands also play an important role in providing brood rearing habitat. This project is mapping areas of high priority sage grouse habitat in Nevada and will move towards mapping areas of other wetlands in future years with additional funding. Mapping of other important landscapes such as upland riparian habitat are also part of this...

These data show the results of for Nitrate monitoring in Florida Springs for 2018. Water Quality in Florida Springs is an ecological indicator for the Landscape Conservation Project for Florida. The project entails large-scale assessment of and planning for the health of important natural resources in Florida, known as Conservation Assets (CAs). Conservation planning at the landscape scale provides a framework for safeguarding functional ecosystems, and their interconnected processes necessary to achieve true preservation of healthy resources. Spatially explicit data from the project informs prioritization and coordination for conservation decision-making. A suite of ecological indicators was carefully selected...
