The High Resolution National Hydrography Dataset Plus (NHDPlus HR) is an integrated set of geospatial data layers, including the best available National Hydrography Dataset (NHD), the 10-meter 3D Elevation Program Digital Elevation Model (3DEP DEM), and the National Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD). The NHDPlus HR combines the NHD, 3DEP DEMs, and WBD to create a stream network with linear referencing, feature naming, "value added attributes" (VAAs), elevation-derived catchments, and other features for hydrologic data analysis. The stream network with linear referencing is a system of data relationships applied to hydrographic systems so that one stream reach "flows" into another and "events" can be tied to and traced...

This dataset provides details from stream metabolism models for 20 stream sites in the United States that were sampled as part of the National Water Quality Program's Regional Stream Quality Assessments (RSQA). Metabolism was estimated at each site using the streamMetabolizer package in R. For each of the 20 sites, three files are provided; (1) the input data, which includes continuous dissolved oxygen, water temperature, light, and stream depth, (2) the output data containing the daily metabolism estimates, and (3) a site-specific html 'guide' for running the streamMetabolizer package in R. The site 'short_name' is included in each file name to distinguish the files associated with each field site. Final metabolism...

This dataset provides input data formatted for use in estimating metabolism. The format is tables of prepared time series inputs (1 tab-delimited file per site, in 1 zip file per site). This dataset is part of a larger data release of metabolism model inputs and outputs for 356 streams and rivers across the United States (https://doi.org/10.5066/F70864KX). The complete release includes: modeled estimates of gross primary productivity, ecosystem respiration, and the gas exchange coefficient; model input data and alternative input data; model fit and diagnostic information; site catchment boundaries and site point locations; and potential predictors of metabolism such as discharge and light availability.
The data set includes the macroinvertebrate metrics calculated by IDAS software (Cuffney 2003, USGS OFR 03-172) for the Midwest Stream Quality Assessment (MSQA). Invert data is taxonomic data that has been summarized into variables called metrics that summarize various components of the taxonomic data. The original taxonomic data comes from USGS BioData.

This dataset contains the streams derived from the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) for Australasia from the Hydrological Derivatives for Modeling and Analysis (HDMA) database. The HDMA database provides comprehensive and consistent global coverage of raster and vector topographically derived layers, including raster layers of digital elevation model (DEM) data, flow direction, flow accumulation, slope, and compound topographic index (CTI); and vector layers of streams and catchment boundaries. The coverage of the data is global (-180º, 180º, -90º, 90º) with the underlying DEM being a hybrid of three datasets: HydroSHEDS (Hydrological data and maps based on SHuttle Elevation Derivatives at multiple Scales), Global...

As the SEAK Hydro database evolves, so to will the metadata for this dataset. Until noted otherwise, please reference this dataset's metadata for an older version of the source data. This map service contains two barrier layers, one from the USFS and one from the AWC. The USFS barriers layer contains points representing bedrock waterfalls in Southeast Alaska that are potential barriers to fish passage on the Tongass National Forest. Waterfalls less than 1 meter are not mapped nor are those caused only by wood or debris jams. Channel types considered to be de facto barriers to fish passage HC5, HC6, & MC3 (Channel Type Users Guide, USFS 1992) were not included in the layer. The AWC layer is undocumented at this time.
This data set contains the Compound Topographic Index (CTI) for Africa from the Hydrologic Derivatives for Modeling and Analysis (HDMA) database. The CTI data were developed and distributed by processing units. There are 19 processing units for Africa. The distribution files have the number of the processing unit appended to the end of the zip file name (e.g. af_cti_3_2.zip contains the CTI data for unit 3-2). The HDMA database provides comprehensive and consistent global coverage of raster and vector topographically derived layers, including raster layers of digital elevation model (DEM) data, flow direction, flow accumulation, slope, and compound topographic index (CTI); and vector layers of streams and catchment...

Water having entered a stream channel from the surrounding catchment may continue to have connections with the catchment. In the stream's hyporheic zone, water “in the channel” exchanges with “groundwater” in the bed of the stream. Hyporheic exchange flows typically occur at scales small relative to the length and volumetric transport characteristics of the stream. Nevertheless, it is well documented that hyporheic exchange flows significantly influence nutrient dynamics. Additionally, there is evidence of hyporheic exchange flows similarly influencing the processes establishing the concentrations of major-ions and metals in stream-catchment systems. It is within the contexts of (i) solute transport and (ii) the...
