USGS developed The National Map (TNM) Gazetteer as the Federal and national standard (ANSI INCITS 446-2008) for geographic nomenclature based on the Geographic Names Information System (GNIS). The National Map Gazetteer contains information about physical and cultural geographic features, geographic areas, and locational entities that are generally recognizable and locatable by name (have achieved some landmark status) and are of interest to any level of government or to the public for any purpose that would lead to the representation of the feature in printed or electronic maps and/or geographic information systems. The dataset includes features of all types in the United States, its associated areas, and Antarctica,...
This metadata record document contains 7 tables used to assess factors influencing long-term water quality changes in the Gwynns Falls, Baltimore, MD, 1998-2016. Included are daily discharge measurements (source: United States Geological Survey (USGS), 2016), weekly nutrient sampling concentrations (source: Baltimore Ecosystem Study (BES), 2015), and approximately monthly bacteria, ammonia, TKN, and TSS sampling concentrations (source: Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW), 2016; Baltimore County Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability (DEPS), 2016). Annual loads were calculated for each Gwynns Falls subwatershed from the discharge measurements and sampling concentrations. Green infrastructure...

The Nebraska Geospatial Data Center provides internet access to a wide variety of geospatial databases developed and/or maintained by various state, federal and local government agencies, academic institutions, and private entities. It is a one-stop enterprise portal for on-line searching, accessing, displaying and mapping available geo-data relating to the geographic area of Nebraska. The Center has created a unified enterprise-wide metadata clearinghouse and developed a web-based metadata submission site for the State. The online entry of metadata facilitates ongoing publication of metadata into the clearinghouse. The metadata entry contains descriptive information about the specific geo-data and is structured...

This file contains the combined Public Water Supply data through 2004 for the state of Wyoming. The data are supplied by the Operator Certification Program in the Wyoming DEQ Water Quality Division. Please contact the Wyoming DEQ with any questions concerning these offline data.
This report provides detailed (1:63,360-scale) mapping of the Tanana A-1 and A-2 quadrangles (500 square miles; equivalent to eight 7.5-minute quadrangles). The area is part of the Manley Hot Springs-Tofty mining districts and adjacent to the Rampart mining district to the south of the Tanana B-1 Quadrangle. This report includes detailed bedrock, surficial, structural, and stratigraphic data. Based on the resulting geologic maps, field investigations, and laboratory materials analyses, the report also includes derivative maps of geologic construction materials and geologic hazards. The Tanana A-1 and A-2 Quadrangles and surrounding area comprise several isolated mountainous ridges in the western Yukon-Tanana Upland...
These data are high-resolution bathymetry (riverbed elevation) in ASCII XYZ format, generated from the July 16, 2011, hydrographic and velocimetric survey of the Missouri River near structure 435-105-11.97(235) on Interstate 435 in Kansas City, Missouri, during summer flooding on the Missouri River. Hydrographic data were collected using a high-resolution multibeam echosounder mapping system (MBMS), which consists of a multibeam echosounder (MBES) and an inertial navigation system (INS) mounted on a marine survey vessel. Data were collected as the vessel traversed the river along planned survey lines distributed throughout the reach. Data collection software integrated and stored the depth data from the MBES and...
The use of scenarios was identified by the NSSI Oversight Group as a potentially important tool in helping identify future research and monitoring needs. Scenarios can provide a means to identify a plausible range of pathways by which an uncertain future may unfold. In that way, they can then be used to help guide agency considerations for how to effectively target research and monitoring efforts in a manner that will be most useful for resource management decision-making under uncertain future conditions. A collaboration to undertake that scenarios project was formed between NSSI, the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and GeoAdaptive, LLC, an internationally experienced geospatial scenarios consultant. This dataset...
Some of the YKL rasters intentionally do not align or have the same extent. These rasters were not snapped to a common raster per the authors' discretion. Please review selected rasters prior to use. These varying alignments are a result of the use of differing source data sets and all products derived from them. We recommend that users snap or align rasters as best suits their own projects. - As a final measure of potential human impacts to the ecoregions, the impacts of current and long term potential anthropogenic development are summarized per 5th level hydrologic unit by the landscape condition model (LCM). The LCM weights the relative influence of different types of human footprints based on factors like permanence,...
This raster represents development change agents (CAs) in the Mojave Basin and Range Ecoregion for the current (circa 2010). In the scenario-based assessment of conservation elements (CEs), this raster has been developed to represent CAs in a clear, combined format and to answer the management questions (MQs) such as, where do CAs intersect CEs? The raster contains 19 classes which represent different types of human infrastructure on the landscape. Some types are easily defined, precise footprints (pipelines, roads, energy development areas) while others are broader land cover types derived from spatial models (development, mining and refuse areas). During the construction of the layer, we observed that many CAs...

The Alaska Resource Data File (ARDF) is a subset of the National Mineral Resource Data System (MRDS) that has been specifically re-formatted and re-designed to better meet the needs of the local user community.

The EPA EnviroAtlas Number of Dams per 12-Digit HUC dataset was clipped to the boundary of the study site, Utah and the Colorado Plateau Ecoregion. Original Metadata: This EnviroAtlas dataset is a summary of the National Dams Inventory data from 2009 survey. The file contains counts (EA_NIDamCount attribute) of inventoried dams by 12-digit hydrologic units codes (March 2011) and total maximum storage capacity in millions of gallons (EA_NIDams_DN attribute). This dataset was produced by the US EPA to support research and online mapping activities related to EnviroAtlas. EnviroAtlas (http://enviroatlas.epa.gov/EnviroAtlas) allows the user to interact with a web-based, easy-to-use, mapping application to view and analyze...
The data represent 3 replicate measures of linear distance along 30 fixed transects on permanent subtidal monitoring sites around San Nicolas Island, CA. There were six sites, each of which had five 10-meter by 2-meter band transects on which a suite of kelps and macroinvertebrates was repeatedly counted over almost four decades. Although the transects are each approximately 10 m long, as measured with a meter tape extended between start and end eyebolts set in the sea floor, crevices, boulders, and reef structure provide much more than 20 square meters of surface area. In an effort to quantify the differences in rugosity between the transects, a 13 cm-circumference electronic surveyor’s wheel was used to measure...
These geospatial data were collected during the August 10, 2016 topographic and hydrographic survey of the Musselshell River at S-300 at Ryegate, MT.
An ESRI GRID raster data model of the overburden material above the Mahogany Zone was needed to perform calculations in the Piceance Basin, Colorado as part of a 2009 National Oil Shale Assessment.
