In 2015, the second of several Regional Stream Quality Assessments (RSQA) was done in the southeastern United States. The Southeast Stream Quality Assessment (SESQA) was a study by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Water Quality Assessment (NAWQA) project. One of the objectives of the RSQA, and thus the SESQA, is to characterize the relationships between water-quality stressors and stream ecology and subsequently determine the relative effects of these stressors on aquatic biota within the streams (Van Metre and Journey, 2014). To meet this objective, a framework of fundamental geospatial data was required to develop physical and anthropogenic characteristics of the study region, sampled sites and corresponding...

These polygon boundaries, inundation extents, and depth rasters were created to provide an extent of flood inundation along the Lumber River within the community of Fair Bluff, North Carolina. The upstream and downstream reach extent is determined by the location of high-water marks, not extending the boundary far past the outermost high-water marks. In areas of uncertainty of flood extent, the model boundary is lined up with the flood inundation polygon extent. This boundary polygon was used to extract the final flood inundation polygon and depth layer from the flood water surface raster file. The passage of Hurricane Matthew through central and eastern North Carolina during October 7-9, 2016, brought heavy rainfall...

This is a coverage of the Colorado Plateau coal assessment study area. The study area outline was drawn on the county lines that most closely outline the coal-bearing rocks in the Colorado Plateau Region. The county outlines originate from a national coverage for which lines were extracted from U.S. Census 1990 TIGER/line files using an AML program written by Nebert, D., and Negri, M., USGS-Water Resources Division (WRD), running on two Data General 6220 servers.

This ArcView shapefile contains a polygon representation of the northern part (Jim Bridger area) of the Point of Rocks-Black Butte coalfield in the Greater Green River Basin, Wyoming. This boundary is a part of the National Coal Resource Assessment of the Northern Rocky Mountain and Great Plains Fort Union Coal Resources Assessment Area. This shapefile can be shown in relation to other relevant themes of this area.

These polygon boundaries, inundation extents, and depth rasters were created to provide an extent of flood inundation along the Neuse River within the community of Kinston, North Carolina. The Tokio Formation in southwestern Arkansas, hereafter referred to as the Tokio aquifer, is a source of groundwater for agricultural, domestic, industrial, and public use in Clark, Hempstead, Little River, Miller, Pike, and Nevada counties. Water-level altitudes measured 42 wells completed in the Tokio aquifer during 2014 and 2015 were used to create a potentiometric-surface map. In southwestern Arkansas, potentiometric surfaces indicate that groundwater flow in the Tokio aquifer is towards the city of Hope. Northwest of the city of Hope, a cone of depression may exist. In southwestern Pike, northwestern Nevada, and northeastern Hempstead Counties, an area of artesian flow (water levels are at or above land surface)...
