This data release contains monthly 270-meter resolution Basin Characterization Model (BCMv8) climate and hydrologic variables for Localized Constructed Analog (LOCA; Pierce et al., 2014)-downscaled ACCESS 1.0 Global Climate Model (GCM) for Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) 4.5 (medium-low emissions) and 8.5 (high emissions) for hydrologic California. The LOCA climate scenarios span water years 1950 to 2099 with greenhouse-gas forcings beginning in 2006. The LOCA downscaling method has been shown to produce better estimates of extreme events and reduces the common downscaling problem of too many low-precipitation days (Pierce et al., 2014). Ten GCMs were selected from the full ensemble of models from the...

These data represent total vegetation and surface water along approximately 12 kilometers of the Paria River upstream from the confluence of the Colorado River at Lees Ferry, Arizona. They are derived from airborne, multispectral imagery obtained in late May 2009, 2013, and 2021, collected with a push-broom sensor with 4 spectral bands depicting Blue, Green, Red and Near-Infrared wavelengths at a spatial resolution of 20 centimeters. The vegetation classification data were created using a supervised classification algorithm provided by Harris Geospatial in ENVI version 5.6.3 (Exelis Visual Information Solutions, Boulder, Colorado). The water data were created using a Green Normalized Difference Vegetation Index...

Digital flood-inundation maps for a 3.4-mile reach of Fourmile Creek at Silver Grove, Kentucky (Ky.), were created by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the City of Silver Grove and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District. Because the City of Silver Grove is subject to flooding from Fourmile Creek and the Ohio River (backwater flooding up Fourmile Creek), a set of flood-inundation maps was created for each flooding source independently and for combinations of possible flooding scenarios. The flood-inundation maps depict estimates of the areal extent and depth of flooding corresponding to a range of different gage heights (gage height is commonly referred to as “stage,” or the water-surface...

This data release contains motorboat-towed floating transient electromagnetic data collected from the Columbia River near Hanford WA. Data were collected using a ~16 foot (4.9 meters) outboard motorboat during two field campaigns: July 2021 and April 2022. In total, several hundred linear kilometers of data were collected from a reach of the Columbia that extends from approximately Vernita Bridge to Richland, WA with some additional data collected in the Horn area north of White Bluffs in April 2022. An Aarhus Geoinstruments FloaTEM system was used to collect these data. The depth of investigation of the FloaTEM system is variable but ranged from approximately 50 to 100 meters. Previously collected high-resolution...

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the New Mexico Water Resources Research Institute (WRRI), identified basin characteristics and estimated mean annual streamflow for a regional study of 169 USGS surface-water streamgages throughout the state of New Mexico and adjacent states. The basin characteristics and mean annual streamflows presented here will be used to derive equations for estimating mean annual streamflow at ungaged locations in New Mexico. The accompanying directories contain basin characteristics computation methods and results, and mean annual streamflow at streamgages. Using a Geographic Information System (GIS), surface-water streamgages were selected based on their location in...

This data release contains a comma-delimited ascii file of five same-day, discrete discharge measurements made at sites along selected reaches of South Hālawa Stream, North Hālawa Stream, and Hālawa Stream, Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi on December 28, 2021. These discrete discharge measurements form what is commonly referred to as a “seepage run.” The intent of the seepage run is to quantify the spatial distribution of streamflow along the reach during fair-weather, low-flow conditions, generally characterized by negligible direct runoff within the reach. The measurements can be used to characterize the net seepage of water into (water gain) or out of (water loss) the stream channel between measurement sites provided that the...

Using the horizontal-to-vertical spectral-ratio (HVSR) method, we infer regolith thickness (i.e., depth to bedrock) throughout the Farmington River Watershed, CT, USA. Between Nov. 2019 and Nov. 2020, MOHO Tromino Model TEP-3C (MOHO, S.R.L.) three-component seismometers collected passive seismic recordings along the Farmington River and the upstream West Branch of Salmon Brook. From these recordings, we derived resonance frequencies using the GRILLA software (MOHO, S.R.L.), and then inferred potential regolith thicknesses based on likely shear wave velocities, Vs, intrinsic to the underlying sediment. Three potential shear wave velocities (Vs = 300m/s, 337m/s, 362 m/s) were considered for Farmington River watershed...

This data release contains steady-state hydraulic input files for the FluOil model (Zhu and others, 2022) that describe the lower St. Croix River between St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, and Stillwater, Minnesota. These files are derived from the results of a steady-state one dimensional (1D) hydraulic model of the river reach at three discharges (10,000, 20,000, and 35,000 cubic feet per second (cfs)) and include the flow depth, velocity magnitude, and shear velocity along the model domain. A constant temperature of 20 degrees Celsius is also specified. The hydraulic model used to generate this dataset was originally adapted from an existing U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Hydrologic Engineering Center River Analysis System...

This polygon shapefile represents model simulated flood-inundation extents for the Muddy River, near Moapa Nevada. A flood frequency analysis was performed at USGS streamgage 09416000 - Muddy River near Moapa, Nevada, to estimate the 50, 20, 10, 4, 2, and 1-percent annual exceedance probability (AEP) flood streamflows. The flood-inundation extents for the 50-, 20-, 10-, 4-, 2-, and 1-percent AEP floods were simulated for the current levee location in 2019 and for the new levee location of the proposed restoration. One model simulation represents the levee at its current (existing) location in 2019 on the east bank of the river and referred to as ‘current conditions (2019).’ A second model simulation removes the...
