These data were compiled to allow further understanding of how aboveground net primary production of different plant functional types in ecosystems along an elevation gradient in the southwestern U.S. respond to extreme changes in warm-season precipitation (drought and water addition) associated with the North American Monsoon. The objectives of the study were to 1) determine how primary production responds to warm-season precipitation extremes over time; 2) compare production sensitivities to warm-season precipitation (slopes of production – precipitation relationships) across an elevation gradient; 3) evaluate whether the sensitivity of production differed under extreme dry and wet years compared to ambient precipitation....

Using a combination of tabular and spatial data queries, we identified 129,773 flowlines in the hydrological framework of the National Hydrography Dataset Plus Version 1 (NHDPlusV1) that were created due to breaks in flowlines resulting from flowline intersection with quadrangle map boundaries. We found instances of this occurring in all 18 processing units of the NHDPlusV1 dataset. To aid in managing for this characteristic of the NHDPlus, we developed this EcoReach table (nhdplusv1_ecoreachv2.0.csv) that assigns all flowlines into units that are representative of ecological stream reaches. These "ecological stream reaches" may be defined by: stream origins, stream confluences, lake or reservoir inflows or outflows,...

These tabular data were compiled for/to monitor vegetation and biocrust cover in a never grazed grassland located in Canyonlands National Park. An objective, or objectives, of our study was to document potential changes in biocrust and vegetation cover and species composition as related to changes in land use and climate change. These data represent a timeseries of long-term vegetation and biocrust monitoring plots, dating from 1996 to 2021. These data were collected at/in Virginia Park, Needles District of Canyonlands National Park, Utah. These data were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey, Southwest Biological Research Center in coordination with the US National Park Service. Data were collected via field...

Using a combination of tabular and spatial data queries, we identified 133,111 flowlines in the National Hydrography Dataset Plus Version 2 (NHDPlusV2) that were created due to breaks in flowlines resulting from flowline intersection with quadrangle map boundaries. We found instances of this occurring in all 18 processing units of the NHDplusV2 dataset. To aid in managing for this characteristic of the NHDPlus, this EcoReach table (nhdplusv2_ecoreachv2.0.csv) assigns all flowlines into units that are representative of ecological stream reaches. These "ecological stream reaches" may be defined by: stream origins, stream confluences, lake or reservoir inflows or outflows, and/or stream outflows (described in more...

These environmental raster covariate, geospatial vector data, and tabular data were compiled as input data for the Automated Reference Toolset (ART) algorithm. These data are a subset of all the environmetal raster covariate data used in the ART algorithm. Users are advised to read the mansuscript, associated with these data and identified as the larger work citation. It is recommended that data users contact the data set author if they have any questions about the development, processing, contribution, and use of these data in the Automated Reference Toolset.

These data were compiled to describe population reproductive structure of rainbow trout in the Colorado River downstream of Glen Canyon Dam, Arizona. Objective(s) of our study were to describe the population on reproductive structure of the rainbow trout population in Glen Canyon on the Colorado River and evaluate the accuracy of nonlethal methods (manual expression and ultrasonography) for assigning sex and reproductive phase. These data represent samples collected in 3 sampling trips fall in October to November 2018, February 2019, and April 2019. These data were collected in Glen Canyon, from Glen Canyon Dam to Lees Ferry on the Colorado River. Specifically, we sampled three reaches within Glen Canyon to represent...
