This metadata record describes 24 tabular data sets that estimate the percent of agricultural land that may be subject to select conservation practices for each year during the period 2000-2012 compiled for two spatial components of the NHDPlus version 2.1 data suite (NHDPlusv2) for the conterminous United States; 1) individual reach catchments and 2) reach catchments accumulated upstream through the river network. This dataset can be linked to the NHDPlus version 2 data suite by the unique identifier COMID. Reach catchment information characterizes data at the local scale. Reach catchments accumulated upstream through the river network characterizes cumulative upstream conditions. Network-accumulated values are...

These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. This data set consists of digital polygons of a constant hydraulic conductivity value for the alluvial and terrace deposits along the North Canadian River from Oklahoma City to Eufaula Lake in east-central Oklahoma. Ground water in 710 square miles of Quaternary-age alluvial and terrace deposits along the North Canadian River is an important source of water for irrigation, industrial, municipal, stock, and domestic supplies. The...

Between 27 and 11 kyr ago, during the last major (Naptowne) glaciation, the northwestern and western Kenai Peninsula and the Cook Inlet trough were covered by ice except for local nunataks and small refugia, like the Caribou Hills. Landforms related to four glacial stades are recognized and paleogeographic maps document ice limits, drainage systems, glacial-impounded lakes, and glaciomarine terraces. Numerous multidisciplinary studies of glacial, vegetation, and insect histories document Holocene climatic changes.

This database portrays the surface and shallow subsurface geology of the greater Charleston, S.C. region east of 80°30′ west and south of 33°15′ north. The region covers the entirety of Charleston County and portions of Berkeley, Colleton, Dorchester, and Georgetown Counties. Units locally exposed at the surface range in age from middle Eocene to Holocene, but most of the area is covered by Quaternary interglacial deposits. These are, from oldest to youngest, the Okefenokee, Waccamaw(?), Penholoway, Ladson, Ten Mile Hill, and Wando Formations and the Silver Bluff beds. Two cross sections (not included in the database), one running southeast from Harleyville to the coastline on James Island and the other running...

The Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) has conducted 1:63,360-scale geologic mapping of the Eagle A-2 Quadrangle (270 square miles; equivalent to four 7.5-minute quadrangles). The area is part of the 100-year old Fortymile mining district and is located in eastern Alaska near the Alaska-Yukon border. This map illustrates the distribution of a variety of unconsolidated deposits and undifferentiated bedrock in the Eagle A-2 Quadrangle, Fortymile mining district. It was prepared by the interpretation of 1:63,360-scale, false-color, infrared aerial photographs taken from July 1978 through August 1981 and is locally verified by ground observations during field visits. The results should be considered...

This surficial-geologic map shows the distribution of unconsolidated deposits and undifferentiated bedrock in the Faith Creek area in the Circle A-4, A-5, B-4, and B-5 quadrangles. This map was prepared principally by the interpretation of 1:63,360-scale, false-color, infrared aerial photographs taken in 1979 and 1981 and is locally verified by ground observations during field work in 2007.

This data release contains machine-readable files accompanying the study “Quaternary Reelfoot fault deformation in the Obion River valley, Tennessee, USA" published by Delano et al. (2021) in Tectonics. The data release includes grain size analyses from three auger sites (TableS1_WilsonLoop_grainsize.txt, TableS2_Lanesferry_grainsize.txt, TableS3_BiggsFarm_grainsize.txt) and unit descriptions from three auger sites and a modern analog (TableS4_modern_floodplain_unit_desc.csv, TableS5_Wilson_Loop_unit_desc.csv, TableS6_Lanesferry_Road_unit_desc.csv, TableS7_Biggs_Farm_unit_desc.csv). A readme file (readme.txt) provides details for each file. Delano, J.E., Briggs, R.W., Thompson Jobe, J., Gold, R.D., and Engelhart,...

The Weldona 7.5' quadrangle is located on the semiarid plains of northeastern Colorado, along the South Platte River corridor where the river has incised into Upper Cretaceous Pierre Shale. The Pierre Shale is largely covered by surficial deposits that formed from alluvial, eolian, and hillslope processes operating in concert with environmental changes from the Pleistocene to the present. The South Platte River, originating high in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, has played a major role in shaping surficial geology in the map area, which is several tens of kilometers downstream from where headwater tributaries join the river. Recurrent glaciation (and deglaciation) of basin headwaters has affected river discharge...

This data set contains imagery from the National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP). The NAIP program is administered by USDA FSA and has been established to support two main FSA strategic goals centered on agricultural production. These are, increase stewardship of America's natural resources while enhancing the environment, and to ensure commodities are procured and distributed effectively and efficiently to increase food security. The NAIP program supports these goals by acquiring and providing ortho imagery that has been collected during the agricultural growing season in the U.S. The NAIP ortho imagery is tailored to meet FSA requirements and is a fundamental tool used to support FSA farm and conservation programs....

The area is part of the 100-year old Fortymile mining district and is located in eastern Alaska near the Alaska-Yukon border. This geologic map was produced by merging a bedrock geologic map and a surficial geologic map of the Eagle A-2 Quadrangle and based upon results from field investigations by DGGS in 1999 and 2000, which were part of a three-year mapping program to provide geologic ground truth for airborne geophysical surveys flown by DGGS in the Fortymile mining district during 1998.

This 1:50,000 scale geologic map describes the distribution of unconsolidated deposits, identifies local geologic hazards, and provides information about the depositional environment and basic engineering properties of common surficial-geologic materials in and around Shaktoolik, Alaska. Map units are the result of combined field observations and aerial imagery interpretation. A suite of local ground observations were collected over a two-week period in July 2011 by a helicopter-supported team of DGGS geologists and collaborators. Field investigations included soil test pits, sample collection, soil and rock description, oblique aerial photography, and documentation of landscape morphology.

The database for the Preliminary Geologic Map of the Cherry Hill Quadrangle, Dinwiddie, Sussex, and Greensville Counties, Virginia geographically straddles the Coastal Plain and Piedmont Provinces along the Tidewater Fall Line. Rocks of the eastern Piedmont Roanoke Rapids terrane crop out in the western part of the quadrangle and consist of greenschist- to amphibolite-facies Neoproterozoic felsic to intermediate metavolcanic rocks, some of which contain flattened quartz phenocrysts and are locally isoclinally folded; greenstone that is locally primary layered; and intrusive metadiorite and metagabbro, much of which has been altered to amphibolite. Most of these rocks are strongly foliated and jointed. Greenschist-facies...
