This dataset includes georeferenced, high-resolution, airborne thermal infrared (TIR) and high-resolution true-color imagery, a polyline shapefile of the channel centerline, a polyline shapefile with TIR sample points for longitudinal stream temperature profiles, and a tabular file with longitudinal stream temperature profiles for the Donner und Blitzen River and its tributaries, Oregon. The aerial TIR surveys were conducted with a helicopter by NV5 Geospatial and are published as 17 raster mosaics in GeoTiff format with a resolution of 0.3 meters (m). The TIR mosaics contain corrected surface temperatures in degrees Celsius (C) (multiplied by 10 to create an unsigned integer pixel type). The longitudinal stream...

This study utilized spaceborne multispectral thermal infrared (TIR) data to document spatial relationships of surface sediments over time in a modern depositional environment associated with dust emissions, Soda Lake playa, Mojave Desert, United States. The approach employed here involved time-series TIR data acquired from Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) and a linear spectral mixture analysis. An automated algorithm was applied to derive emissivity image endmembers. Evaluation of the chosen endmembers revealed that they can be categorized into five major spectra classes based on diagnostic absorption features. Each spectrum has been identified in relation to mineral abundance...

This data release includes video files and image-processing results used to conduct the analyses of hibernation patterns in groups of bats reported by Hayman et al. (2017), "Long-term video surveillance and automated analyses reveal arousal patterns in groups of hibernating bats.” Thermal-imaging surveillance video cameras were used to observe little brown bats (Myotis lucifugus) in a cave in Virginia and Indiana bats (M. sodalis) in a cave in Indiana during three winters between 2011 and 2014. There are 740 video files used for analysis (‘Analysis videos’), organized into 7 folders by state/site and winter. Total size of the video data set is 14.1 gigabytes. Each video file in this analysis set represents one...

This dataset includes georeferenced high-resolution, airborne thermal infrared (TIR) imagery, a polyline shapefile of the channel centerline, and a tabular file with longitudinal stream temperature profiles for Hat Creek, California. The two aerial TIR surveys were conducted with a helicopter by NV5 Geospatial (formerly Quantum Spatial, Inc.) and are published as two raster mosaics in GeoTiff format with a resolution of 0.5 m. The TIR mosaics and longitudinal stream temperature profiles contain corrected surface temperatures in degrees C (multiplied by 10 to create an unsigned integer pixel type). The TIR dataset encompasses a 64.6-km reach of Hat Creek that extends from 50 m upstream of the confluence with Lost...

These data are detections of burros in the Sinbad Herd Management Area in central Utah made during aerial thermal infrared-based distance sampling surveys in December 2015 and May 2016. Burros were detected from a fixed wing aircraft using an infrared camera mounted on the underside of the aircraft. A monitor screen was inside the aircraft, connected to the camera so the observer could look for burros in the monitor. Aircraft flew at 2,000 feet above ground level. These data were collected to estimate the population size of burros in the Sinbad Herd Management Area and to examine effectiveness between helicopter and aerial thermal infrared survey types. To assess performance of the different survey types, data analyses...

Note: this data release has been depecrated. Find the updated version here: https://doi.org/10.5066/P9FJCM8N. The Skykomish and Snoqualmie River basins in western Washington provide spawning, rearing, and migration habitat for several salmonid species, including Endangered Species Act-listed Chinook salmon, steelhead trout, and bull trout. The production, abundance, distribution, and the health of fish and other aquatic life is strongly influenced by water temperature, which affects their physiology and behavior. The Washington State Department of Ecology establishes water temperature criteria and Total Maximum Daily Load standards for designated aquatic life uses, varying between 12 and 17.5 degrees Celsius, depending...
