Daily downscaled data for the Climate Model simulations conducted for the IPCC Fourth Assessment The Climate Impacts Group has analyzed the climate response for the Pacific Northwest simulated by several climate models. These simulations were prepared by climate modeling centers worldwide for the Fourth IPCC Assessement. For consistency with prior work, we include the current versions of models used previously: Hadcm3, Echam5, CCSM3, and PCM1 (CCSM3 is the successor to both the NCAR CSM and DOE PCM). To these we added five additional models to better represent the range of models participating in AR4. These are: CNRM_CM3, CSIRO_MK3 Miroc_3.2, IPSL_CM4, CGCM_3.1, and GISS_ER. Summary statistics for these models...

ClimateWNA: A program to generate high-resolution climate data for climate change studies and applications in western North America Overview ClimateWNA extracts and downscales PRISM (Daly et al. 2002) monthly data (2.5 x 2.5 arcmin) for the reference period (1961-1990), and calculates seasonal and annual climate variables for specific locations based on latitude, longitude and elevation (optional) for western North America, shown in the map on the right. This program also downscales and integrates historical (1901-2011) (Mitchell and Jones 2005 for 1901-2009) and future climate data (2020s, 2050s and 2080s) generated by various global circulation models. The output includes both directly calculated and derived...

A U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) provisional geochemical and mineralogical database for hydrocarbon-rich shale in the Appalachian region has been compiled by Catherine Enomoto, Frank Dulong and Robert Milici for online distribution. USGS staff collaborated with geologists in State geological agencies to obtain samples that were analyzed for organic properties, including Rock Eval analyses, total organic carbon (TOC), thermal maturity, and semi-quantitative mineralogy. However, the database also contains previously published data, with appropriate citations included. Previously unpublished data are from samples collected and analyzed between 2007 and 2012 from wells drilled between 1931 and 2009, and from exposures...
This data release contains programmed pyrolysis, organic petrographic (reflectance), and semiquantitative X-ray diffraction mineralogy data for subsurface coal and shale samples from around the world. Samples were subjected to hydrous or anhydrous pyrolysis experiments at varying temperatures and the resulting residues were analyzed via programmed pyrolysis and reflectance to document changes in thermal maturity.

The U.S. Geological Survey assessed undiscovered petroleum resources in the downdip Paleogene formations of the U.S. Gulf Coast in 2018. During the assessment new data and information were collected to evaluate thermal maturity, source rock character, and unconventional reservoir rock prospectivity for the Cenozoic-aged section in south Louisiana. Samples were analyzed using multiple analytical approaches, including programmed pyrolysis (Rock-Eval), Leco TOC, organic petrographic analysis including vitrinite reflectance (Ro, %), and X-ray diffraction mineralogy. Associated abstract publication: Valentine, B.J., Elizalde, C., Enomoto, C.B., Hackley, P.C., 2015, Organic petrology and geochemistry of Tertiary and...

This data release contains Rock-Eval pyrolysis, organic petrographic (reflectance), and X-ray diffraction mineralogy data for subsurface Mesozoic rock samples from the eastern onshore Gulf Coast Basin (primarily Mississippi and Louisiana). Samples were analyzed in support of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) assessment of undiscovered petroleum resources in the Upper Cretaceous Tuscaloosa marine shale and evaluation of shale gas prospectivity in the Aptian section of the Mississippi Salt Basin.
