This map was created to help assess impacts on nonindigenous aquatic species distributions due to flooding associated with Hurricane Maria. Storm surge and flood events can assist expansion and distribution of nonindigenous aquatic species through the connection of adjacent watersheds, backflow of water upstream of impoundments, increased downstream flow, and creation of freshwater bridges along coastal regions. This map will help natural resource managers determine potential new locations for individual species, or to develop a watch list of potential new species within a watershed. These data include a subset of data from the Nonindigenous Aquatic Species Database, that fall within the general area of the 2017...

This map was created to help assess impacts on nonindigenous aquatic species distributions due to flooding associated with Hurricane Irma. This map will help natural resource managers determine potential new locations for individual species, or to develop a watch list of potential new species within a watershed. Nesting strategies and use of important in-water habitats for far-ranging marine turtles can be determined using satellite telemetry. Because of a lack of information on habitat-use by marine turtles in the northern Gulf of Mexico, we used satellite transmitters in 2010 through 2012 to track movements of 39 adult female breeding loggerhead turtles (Caretta caretta) tagged on nesting beaches at three sites in Florida and Alabama. During the nesting season, recaptured turtles emerged to nest 1 to 5 times, with mean distance between emergences of 27.5 km; however, several turtles nested on beaches separated by ~250 km within a single season. Mean total distances traveled throughout inter-nesting periods for all turtles...

This dataset contains initial data from head-started alligator snapping turtles released by Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) from November 2015 to October 2016. In addition, it contains data from a five-day trapping effort at each of seven release sites by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) from late June to early October 2018. Trapping was completed using hoop nets of three sizes. We recaptured eight head-started alligator snapping turtles as well as four individuals native to the creek.

This dataset includes results from an ongoing annual trapping effort targeting aquatic turtles at two urban ponds in Lafayette, Louisiana. This project began in 2009 and consists of five days of active and passive trapping each May. This project is ongoing with plans to continue in May of 2025.

In general, ChesMMAP is fishery-independent monitoring survey that uses a large-mesh bottom trawl to sample late juvenile-to-adult fishes in the mainstem of Chesapeake Bay. This program currently provides data on relative abundance, length, weight, sex ratio, maturity, age, and trophic interactions for several important fish species that inhabit the bay seasonally.

NEAMAP stands for NorthEast Area Monitoring and Assessment Program. NEAMAP was developed to meet the needs of fisheries management and stock assessment activities in the northeastern United States. NEAMAP began in 2006 with a fall pilot survey and in 2008 began conducting both a spring and fall survey. NEAMAP samples from Cape Cod, MA south to Cape Hatteras, NC and targets both juvenile and adult fishes. NEAMAP is an integrated, cooperative state/federal data collection program. Its mission is to facilitate the collection and dissemination of fishery-independent information obtained in the Northeast for use by state and federal fisheries management agencies, the fishing industry (commercial and recreational),...

These data were compiled to assess the size, structure, and health of various populations of Actinemys pallida along the length of the Mojave River. Objective(s) of our study were to determine the extent of injuries and abnormalities within our Actinemys pallida populations (including statistical analyses comparing injuries with turtle sex and size) and estimate the cause(s) of the injuries and abnormalities. These data represent injuries and abnormalities from the effects of physical hazards encountered by turtles in their habitats. These data were collected in the Mojave Desert of California at three separate study sites along a length of the Mojave River in San Bernardino County between May 1998–October 1999...

The Gulf Coast Vulnerability Assessment utilized expert opinion that was gathered through the Standardized Index of Vulnerability and Value (SIVVA) tool, which is an Excel-based vulnerability and prioritization tool that enables assessors to provide input in a relatively short time and allows for relatively seamless compilation of results. The vulnerability of each ecosystem and associated species was conducted by subregion, excluding those subregions where the species did not occur in significant numbers. Assessors were asked to evaluate species based on the habitats they use in a particular subregion. Because vulnerability can vary with life-stage for many species, assessors were asked to consider the most vulnerable...

This refined map was created to help assess possible spread of nonindigenous aquatic species distributions due to flooding associated with Hurricane Harvey. Storm surge and flood events can assist expansion and dissemination of nonindigenous aquatic species through the connection of adjacent watersheds, backflow of water upstream of impoundments, increased downstream flow, and creation of freshwater bridges along coastal regions. This map will help natural resource managers determine potential new locations for individual species, or to develop a watch list of possible new species within a watershed. These data include a subset of data from the Nonindigenous Aquatic Species Database, that fall within the general...
