This dataset contains taxonomy, density (cells/mL), and biovolume (μm3/mL) data for phytoplankton sampled across the Sacramento San Joaquin River Delta and San Francisco Bay (Bay-Delta) beginning in 2016. Whole water phytoplankton samples were collected intermittently during special projects and during routine visits to service continuous monitoring stations. Samples were preserved with Lugol’s iodine solution (2-5 %) immediately after collection and stored in a cool, dark environment until analysis. Preserved whole water samples are sent to BSA Environmental Services (BSA) in Beachwood, Ohio for microscopic identification and enumeration. A Leica DMLB compound microscope is used for enumerating filtered phytoplankton...

The Hydraulic Properties Database (HPD; Table-of-AQtests.xlsm) is an interactive Excel workbook that catalogues single-well, aquifer-test results at Pahute Mesa and vicinity. Results from 1,459 single-well, aquifer-test analyses are uniquely identified to 360 tested wells. The Integrated Borehole Workbook (Borehole_Index_PM.xlsm) is an interactive Excel workbook that presents integrated results from slug tests and pumping aquifer tests that took place in 17 boreholes in Pahute Mesa and vicinity from 1962 to 2013. The Metadata folder has detailed metadata.xml files for both Excel workbooks....

For more than 100 years, the Permian Basin has been an important source of oil and gas produced from conventional reservoirs; directional drilling combined with hydraulic fracturing has greatly increased production in the past 10 years to the extent that the Permian Basin is becoming one of the world’s largest continuous oil and gas (COG) producing fields (U.S. Energy Information Administration, 2020). These recent techniques extract oil and gas by directionally drilling and hydraulically fracturing the surrounding reservoir rock. The extraction of COG by using these techniques requires large volumes of water and estimates of the total water volume used in COG require a comprehensive assessment to determine the...

The U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the California Department of Water Resources (DWR), has constructed a new spatially distributed Precipitation-Runoff Modeling System (PRMS) for the Merced River Basin (Koczot and others, 2021), which is a tributary of the San Joaquin River in California. PRMS is a deterministic, distributed-parameter, physical-process-based modeling system developed to evaluate the response of streamflow and basin hydrology to various combinations of climate and land use (Markstrom and others, 2015). Although further refinement may be required to apply the Merced PRMS for official streamflow forecast operations, this application of PRMS is calibrated with intention to simulate (and...
