These data were compiled for Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge (CPNWR) in southern Arizona, to support managment efforts of water resources and wildlife conservation. Objective(s) of our study were to 1) measure water storage capacity at select stage heights in three tanks (also termed tinajas), 2) build a stage storage model to help CPNWR staff accurately estimate water volumes throughout the year, and 3) collect topographic data adjacent to the tanks as a means to help connect these survey data to past or future work. These data represent high-resolution (sub-meter) ground based lidar measurements used to meet these objectives and are provided as: processed lidar files (point clouds), rasters (digital elevation...

This data release contains model inputs used to estimate surface water greenhouse gas fluxes from two large arid reservoirs, Lake Powell and Lake Mead. The release also contains empirical, spatially explicit water quality and greenhouse gas data from a single field survey conducted in Lake Powell in July of 2017. Finally, this release contains surface area estimates of shallow (< 15m) tributary regions of Lake Powell under different water level scenarios.
This is a child item of the USGS Data Release: https://doi.org/10.5066/F7K072DR This dataset includes zooplankton displacement volume sampled in Glacier Bay National Park during summer of 2004. Zooplankton were sampled with a multinet with a 0.5 m^2 mouth opening and 335 µ mesh.

The dimensions of each organism were measured with a Whipple grid and the biovolume was estimated using the simplest geometric shape (e.g., cylinder, cone, sphere, etc.) that best fit the shape of each taxon. Shapes were assigned according to Hillebrand et al. (1999). Biovolume was calculated for the first five organisms/counting units of each taxon identified in a sample. The average biovolume was then used to calculate total biovolume of each taxon in the sample.

Abstract (from http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0378112714003028): Plant functional traits (PFTs) have increased in popularity in recent years to describe various ecosystems and biological phenomena while advancing general ecological principles. To date, few have investigated distributional attributes of individual PFTs and their relationship with key attributes and processes of forest ecosystems. The objective of this study was to quantify the distribution and contribution of various PFTs in determining forest structure, live tree production (volume and biomass), and tree mortality across the eastern US. In total, 16 metrics representing species specific gravity and their shade, flood, and drought...

This data package includes seven child items with data from environmental and biological statistics collected in fjords in the coastal areas of the Gulf of Alaska from 2004-2011. Child Item 1: "Oceanographic Profile Data from Gulf of Alaska Fjords, 2004-2011". This dataset contains physical oceanographic data within four fjords in the coastal area of the Gulf of Alaska. Child Item 2: "Marine Bird and Mammal Surveys in Gulf of Alaska Fjords, 2004-2011". This dataset describes marine bird and mammal surveys conducted in glacial fjords of coastal Alaska. Child Item 3: "Near-surface Nutrients Data from Gulf of Alaska Fjords, 2004-2011". This dataset contains nutrient data collected at stations within four fjords in...
