This data release contains water level data and analytical results from slug tests performed at 12 wells at Badger Army Ammunition Plant (BAAP), Sauk County, Wisconsin. Water-level data, representing the displacement and recovery of groundwater levels with time in wells during slug tests, are provided in comma delimited files. Analytical results are provided in AQUTESOLV files (*.aqt files) and *.pdf summary files. The methods used and results from this work are summarized in the USGS Scientific Investigation report by Haserodt and others, 2023: https://doi.org/10.3133/sir20235040.

The dataset contains GPS survey data from the first of two surveys conducted after a high flow event on August 20, 2018, at the USGS streamgage 04087088 - Underwood Creek at Wauwatosa, WI. This survey, on September 14, 2018, documents high-water marks. The survey was performed using Topcon GR-5 GPS unit (SN: 851-10007).

Salmon are an important resource to the ecosystems, economy, and culture of the Kenai Peninsula, Alaska. However, salmon are under increasing stress due to warming water temperatures and decreasing stream flow. Groundwater is a major contributor to many streams that can help maintain fish habitat during low flows and contributes cooler water that regulates stream temperatures in the warm summer months. As the climate warms, the ability for groundwater to cool stream temperatures will likely become more critical to streams that are used by salmon, such as Beaver Creek near Kenai, Alaska. Preliminary analysis of historical streamflow data indicates that on average, Beaver Creek receives nearly 80% of its flow...

This model archive provides the necessary documentation of the numerical models developed for the Central Sands Lake study in central Wisconsin and will be included as a technical appendix (Appendix C) in the report to the Wisconsin State Legislature by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) in response to 2017 Wisconsin Act 10. This legislation directed DNR to determine whether existing and potential groundwater withdrawals are causing or are likely to cause significant reduction of mean seasonal water levels at Pleasant Lake, Long Lake, and Plainfield Lake (s. 281.34(7m)(2)(b), Wis. Stats.) in Waushara County, Wisconsin. To evaluate the potential hydrologic connection between groundwater withdrawals...

The U.S. Geological Survey developed two steady-state finite-difference regional groundwater-flow models using the MODFLOW-NWT computer code. These models simulate flow in the area of historical iron mining on and around the portion of the Mesabi Iron Range that is in the St. Louis River basin in northeastern Minnesota. The models are composed of 8 layers each; the upper four representing unconsolidated glacial sediments and the lower 4 representing bedrock. Horizontal boundary flows for these models are the results of a 2-dimensional analytic element groundwater-flow model of the entire St. Louis River Basin documented here: https://doi.org/10.3133/sir20195033 and available here: https://doi.org/10.5066/P9KUJ0L3....

ScienceBase brings together the best information it can find about USGS researchers and offices to show connections to publications, projects, and data. We are still working to improve this process and information is by no means complete. If you don't see everything you know is associated with you, a colleague, or your office, please be patient while we work to connect the dots. Feel free to contact sciencebase@usgs.gov.
