The Zahle cluster is named for the city of Zahle, Lebanon, but it covers most of the country and includes some offshore events as well. Most events are small and there are few arrival time data beyond ~30° epicentral distance. The distribution of stations is quite good and the calibration analysis is robust. All events have depth constraint. Depths range through most of the crust. Number of events: 69 Calibration type: direct calibration using data to 0.7 degrees; hypocentroid calibration level = 1.0 km Epicentral calibration range: 1 - 3 km Date range: 19950423 - 20180107 Latitude range: ...

Forest- Data collected once using GIS prior to fish sampling. Our approach was to focus the study on smaller, headwater catchments because larger streams drained areas containing both hemlock and mixed hardwood forest, making forest-specific comparison intractable. In addition, most of these larger watersheds were impacted by humans (e.g., impoundments, agriculture, quarries) that could confound our assessment of the influence of hemlock. Even after limiting the study to headwater catchments, other possible confounding factors remained; we controlled for landscape variability (i.e., terrain and stream size) through the sampling design and we excluded others (i.e., minimum catchment area, beaver activity) through...

Raw data were collected in Shenandoah National Park during summer 2012. Air and temperature data were collected using temperature loggers at several stations throughout the park. These data were used in the publication of the manuscript "Accounting for groundwater influence on headwater stream thermal sensitivity to climate change" through the journal Ecological Applications. Water temperature data were collected at all 78 reach locations during the summer of 2012 (23 June–7 September). Temperature was measured every hour with a logger.

The Baskale cluster is named for the city of Baskale in southeastern Turkey, near the border with Iran. The cluster is a bit small in number and includes only one event larger than magnitude 5 (5.4 mb on January 25, 2005), but the location calibration is quite good. All events are recorded to teleseismic distances and all have depth constraint from near-source or local-distance readings. Number of events: 27 Calibration type: direct calibration using data to 1.0 degrees; hypocentroid calibration level = 1.5 km Epicentral calibration range: 2 - 3 km Date range: 20050125 - 20201220 Latitude...

Statistical analyses and maps representing mean, high, and low water-level conditions in the surface water and groundwater of Miami-Dade County were made by the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the Miami-Dade County Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources, to help inform decisions necessary for urban planning and development. Sixteen maps were created that show contours of (1) the mean of daily water levels at each site during October and May for the 2000-2009 water years; (2) the 25th, 50th, and 75th percentiles of the daily water levels at each site during October and May and for all months during 2000-2009; and (3) the differences between mean October and May water levels, as well as the differences...

The U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority, completed a hydrologic and hydraulic analysis to assess the potential hazard to human life and property associated with the hypothetical failure of the Lago El Guineo Dam. The Lago El Guineo Dam is within the headwaters of the Río Grande de Manatí and impounds a drainage area of about 4.25 square kilometers. This geospatial dataset in shapefile format, guineo_24hr_pmp.shp, contains the maximum inundation limits resulting from hypothetical dam failure of the Lago El Guineo Dam, under a 24-hour probable maximum precipitation recurrence rainfall event.

This dataset is a point shapefile containing water-depth points collected during a sedimention survey of Lago Guayabal conducted during the period December 11- December 14, 2017 by the Puerto Rico office of the Caribbean-Florida Water Science Center of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The goals of the survey were to determine reservoir infill sedimentation rates, generate a bathymetric map of the reservoir, and create a stage-volume relation. More than 270,000 water-depth points were surveyed along 60 navigation lines used in previous sedimentation surveys (Soler-Lopez, 2003, 2007, 2008). All water-depth data were collected using a Teledyne-Odom Echotrac CVM depth sounder coupled to a Global Positioning System...

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release consists of a point shapefile with the location of the sites used in a sampling program to assess the water quality at selected wells throughout Puerto Rico. The sampling was conducted by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Puerto Rico Environmental Quality Board (PREQB) during December 2015 to November 2016.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Puerto Rico Environmental Quality Board, has compiled a series of geospatial datasets for Puerto Rico to be implemented into the USGS StreamStats application (https://streamstats.usgs.gov/ss/). These geospatial datasets, along with basin characteristics datasets for Puerto Rico published as a separate USGS data release (https://doi.org/10.5066/P9HK9SSQ), were used to delineate watersheds and develop the peak-flow and low-flow regression equations used by StreamStats. The geospatial dataset described herein are the sink watershed grid rasters at a 10-m resolution. A value is assigned to pixels in each sink watershed and the count of cells that drain to that...

This data set contains links that are important to each species' habitat network. Those important links are scored based on the percent currently under protection status, projected change in climate suitability by the middle of the 21st century, and projected change in percent urbanized by the middle of the 21st century. Important links were identified from all links in the networks of each species based on their Integral Index of Connectivity (dIIC). Any links with dIIC scores > 0.9 or which connected to nodes with dIIC > 0.9 were retained here as "important" links.

Scientists with the U.S. Geological Survey and the New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources are estimating changes in the amount of groundwater stored in the Mesilla Basin aquifer by precisely measuring differences in the acceleration of gravity at several locations. The change in aquifer storage is an important component of the water budget. The microgravity survey will be repeated throughout 2016. The microgravity survey is part of a larger, long-term hydrologic monitoring program. The Mesilla Basin monitoring program is a cooperative effort between the USGS, the City of Las Cruces Utilities the New Mexico Office of the State Engineer, Interstate Stream Commission, New Mexico Environment Department,...

Within large-river ecosystems, floodplains serve a variety of important ecological functions. A recent survey of 80 managers of floodplain conservation lands along the Upper and Middle Mississippi and Lower Missouri Rivers in the central United States found that the most critical information needed to improve floodplain management centered on metrics for characterizing depth, extent, frequency, duration, and timing of inundation. These metrics can be delivered to managers efficiently through cloud-based interactive maps. To calculate these metrics, we interpolated an existing one-dimensional HEC-RAS hydraulic model for the Lower Missouri River, which simulated water surface elevations at cross sections spaced (<1...
