The Total Petroleum System is shown here as a geographic boundary defined and mapped by the geologist responsible for the province and incorporates not only the set of known or postulated oil and (or) gas accumulations, but also the geologic interpretation of the essential elements and processes within the petroleum system that relate to source, generation, migration, accumulation, and trapping of the discovered and undiscovered petroleum resource(s).
These ArcView shapefiles contain representations of the overburden thckness above the Hanna 77, 78, 79 and 81 coal zones in the Hanna coalfield, Hanna Basin, Wyoming. These shapefiles were created specifically for the National Coal Resource Assessment in the Northern Rocky Mountains and Great Plains Region.

These are shapefiles and ARC/INFO coverages of coal fields and coal-bearing formations in the Colorado Plateau. These GIS layers were created by combining numerous ARC/INFO coverages created for the Colorado Plateau coal assessment. The coal field outlines are approximate boundaries based on criteria provided below under Data Quality Information, Process Steps. These coal field outlines may not overlap exactly with other published coal field boundaries or with criteria used in the geochemistry data. We used existing polygons taken from numerous digital geologic maps, as described in Process Steps, but did not use overburden cutoffs.

This data collection consists of a synthetic stream network and associated catchments developed as the foundation for a Spatially Referenced Regressions on Watershed Attributes (SPARROW) dissolved-solids source and transport model for the Upper Colorado River Basin (UCRB). The SPARROW model requires a hydrologically connected representation of a stream network through which loads are transported from an upstream reach to the next reach downstream (Schwarz and others, 2006; Moore and others, 2004). The polygon (vector) shapefile represents Public Land Survey System (PLSS) sections, or 1-square mile areas of land, with information about Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land and mineral use authorizations for mining claims. For each section, the number of claims (by type) was determined and a density (by claim type) was calculated. The Sandy Hook artificial reef, located on the sea floor offshore of Sandy Hook, New Jersey was built to create habitat for marine life. The reef was created by the placement of heavy materials on the sea floor; ninety-five percent of the material in the Sandy Hook reef is rock. In 2000, the U.S. Geological Survey surveyed the area using a Simrad EM1000 multibeam echosounder mounted on the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) ship Frederick G. Creed. Hydrothermally altered rocks, particularly if water saturated, can weaken stratovolcanoes, thereby increasing the potential for catastrophic sector collapses that can lead to far-traveled, destructive debris flows, which are the largest volcanic hazards for Mount Adams and Mount Baker.
