This layer identifies terrestrial Broadly Defined Habitats associated with species of greatest conservation need as described in Wildlife Action Plans in the Mid-South region of the United States. Condition Index scores are assigned on a per-grid-cell basis at 30-meter resolution. This dataset represents salt marsh communities in the Northeast Atlantic coast. The classification was produced using a combination of Digital Elevation Model (DEM) and National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP) multispectral imagery. This dataset combined with "Tidal Marsh Vegetation Classification, no DEM, 3m, Northeast U.S." provides a contiguous classification of tidal marsh cover types from coastal Maine to Virginia. The classification was produced using National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP) multispectral imagery for areas where no DEM was available to complete the full classification. Estimated number of breeding pairs of Horned lark based on the amount of grass, trees, and/or hay in the landscape. Landscape scale varied from 1/4- to 2-mile radius depending on the species. Pair estimates were calculated for grass patches >=1 ha, extrapolated to 40-ac cells, then smoothed by averaging over a 1-mile radius. Models were based on point count surveys conducted in 2003-2005 throughout the Tallgrass Prairie Pothole Region. Point count locations were stratified by cover type, the amount of grass in the landscape, and USFWS Wetland Management District boundaries. Landcover data were derived from 2000 Thematic Mapper imagery. Grid values = number of breeding pairs per 30-m pixel.

This dataset represents forest gain during the period 2000-2012, defined as the inverse of loss, or a non-forest to forest change, entirely within the study period, for the Northeast region including Canada. Data was encoded as either 1 (gain) or 0 (no gain). The Global Forest Cover Change project is a multi-year activity designed to generate forest cover and forest cover change products at multiple resolutions and multiple dates for every land surface in the world. Bedrock geology strongly influences area soil and water chemistry. Even in glaciated landscapes, studies suggest that soil parent material is commonly of local origin, rarely being ice-transported more that a few miles from its source. Bedrock types also differ in how they weather and in the physical characteristics of the residual soil type. Because of this, local lithology is usually the principle determinant of soil chemistry, texture, and nutrient availability. A "landform" is any physical, recognizable form or feature on the earth's surface that has a characteristic shape and that is produced by natural causes (USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service). Landforms are largely responsible for local variation in solar radiation, soil development, moisture availability, and susceptibility to wind and other disturbance. They therefore have a large influence on plant productivity and species distributions. This dataset maps 17 landforms that are commonly found in the Northeastern U.S. and eastern Canada. The historic range of California golden trout (CGT) includes two watersheds draining the Kern Plateau of the southern Sierra Nevada Mountain Range in California. CGT are native to Golden Trout Creek (GTC) and the South Fork of the Kern River (SFKR), an area encompassing approximately 593 square miles (1,536 sq. km). They historically occupied GTC from the headwaters, with the possible exception of the upper reaches of some tributary streams and headwater lakes, downstream to a series of waterfalls near the mouth. The Land Transformation Model (LTM) is hierarchically coupled with meso-scale drivers to project urban growth across the conterminous USA. Quantity of urban growth 10 at county and place (i.e., city) scales is simulated using population, urban density and nearest neighbor dependent attributes. We compared three meso-scale LTMs to three null models that lack meso-scale drivers. Models were developed using circa 1990–2000 data and validated using change in the 2001 and 2006 National Land Cover Databases (NLCD).
