The Great Northern Landscape Conservation Cooperative (GNLCC) is a new enterprise, comprising agencies and organizations working together across landscapes and through science-management partnerships called Landscape Conservation Cooperatives. The intent to the GNLCC is to assist governments and interested organizations in conserving habitats that ensure the long-term resiliency of ecosystems that sustain priority species and maintain viable populations and habitats in the face of climate change and other threats.
Combining resource selection and movement behavior to predict corridors for Canada lynx at their southern range periphery
Conclusions:Report synthesizes scientific, planning, and policy-related aspects on the importance of land conservation in areas producing water for potable uses, including watersheds and aquifers. One critical finding indicated that if there is more forest cover in a watershed, water treatment costs are lower.Thresholds/Learnings:For every 10% increase in forest cover in the source area, treatment and chemical costs decreased by about 20%, up to about 60% forest cover. Treatment costs level off when forest cover is between 70-100%.

Synopsis: The purpose of this model is to indicate potential habitat for olive-backed pocket mice (Perohnathus fasciatus) within the Milk River Basin. As this is a landscape level model with course variaqbles, it may not be directly applicable to other areas for site-specific analysis. Conclusions: Olive-backed pocket mice require high proportions of grassland habitat and low proportions of shrub cover. Sites with low densities of shrubs are preferred because they provide cover from large and aerial predators, such as owls. A threshold of below 40% shrub coverage represents ideal shrub cover proportions.

The TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). Conclusions:This report sets out guidelines intended to provide BCEAG member jurisdictions with a coordinated approach to recommendations regarding the management of human use activities within wildlife corridors and habitat patches in the Bow Valley of Alberta. The guidelines provide an advisory framework for decision making related to wildlife management as well as recommendations for mitigating the negative effects of human activity on wildlife in the region.Thresholds/Learnings:Male and female cougars avoided areas of high human use and where human use levels exceeded 250-500 users per month.

Conclusions:Landscapes dominated by woody vegetation had significantly more patches, smaller patches and patch core areas, more total edge, and higher patch diversity than landscapes dominated by anthropogenic cover types. We are requesting funding to support 2 multi-year projects for 9 months each. Both of these projects are focused on validation of models produced by the WHCWG. We will use occurrence, movement, and genetic data collected for greater sage-grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus) and mammalian carnivores to validate statewide and ecoregional connectivity models developed by the WHCWG (see the Washington Connected Landscapes Project Part I proposal submitted concurrently for details). This Final Report covers accomplishments for specified objectives and deliverables for a multi-year project (see attached report). We present connectivity map products developed by an ongoing, crossborder collaboration to assess landscape permeability for wildlife in the Okanagan-Kettle subregion. Additionally, we discuss two linkage areas within the subregion where we applied our findings to help inform on-the-ground connectivity conservation planning, and we discuss the application of a Decision Support System (DSS) to inform fine-scale linkage design and monitoring. This Final Report fulfills deliverables for USFWS GNLCC contractual agreement number F14AP01039.

It provides a measure of vulnerability based on temperature change using a watershed-based analysis. The values range from 0 to 1 and are unitless, where Vtw = Et x (1-Aw). The original floating point values ranging from 0-1.0 were multiplied by 100 and converted to integer format for this dataset.
