Final report detailing the results of the climate change vulnerability assessment conducted by the Wildlife Conservation Society. The specific goals of this assessment were to: provide a climate change vulnerability ranking for selected Arctic Alaskan breeding bird species; evaluate the relative contribution of specific sensitivity and exposure factors to individual species rankings; consider how this assessment may be integrated with other approaches; and appraise the effectiveness of the NatureServe Climate Change Vulnerability Index (CCVI) tool.

We leveraged the Land Change Modeler within the Clark Labs’ TerrSet 2020 Geospatial Monitoring and Modeling Software package to produce vulnerability assessments and land use change products for several land use land cover types (TerrSet 2020, https://clarklabs.org/terrset/). TerrSet is an integrated geospatial software system for monitoring and modeling the earth system for sustainable development. We examined land use change and persistence across the southwestern US during an 18-yr window using 2001 and 2019 NLCD products reclassified into 9 categories. We investigated 15 potential variables to evaluate the top drivers responsible for the observed change. The targeted land use land cover categories included development,...

The daily boat tracks of the 1997-2001 summer skiff-based double-sampling surveys were recorded to an onboard computer using the custom survey software RECORD (John I. Hodges, FWS-MBM-Alaska, retired). The tracks were recorded by capturing the skiff’s location from a GPS every five seconds as long as the software was running. The software was started at some time between the boat’s engine start and the start of the survey, and was shut down at some time between the end of the survey and engine shut-down. The tracks may thus include the boat’s travel to and from the home base. Note that the following boat tracks are missing: all 1997 tracks; one track on 08/12/1998; one track on 08/08/2001; one track on 08/09/2001.

Since 2002, the Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center’s Samples Repository has been supporting research by providing secure storage for geological, biological, and geochemical samples; maintaining organization and an active inventory of these sample collections; as well as by providing access to these collections for study and reuse. This collections inventory has been compiled, organized, and released online to provide researchers and the general public with a means to discover and request scientific sample material preserved and maintained by the Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center Samples Repository. Updates will be made to the inventory as the collections grow, and version history is available...

Desert LCC Base Maps and Data describe the physical and cultural geography of the Desert Landscape Conservation Cooperative. These products include the Desert LCC vector boundary available as a shapefile and KML, as well as print-quality graphic design files for thematic maps including Watersheds, Land Cover, Vegetation and a Base Map. The scale of the maps is 1:2,500,000. About the Desert LCC Region: Forty percent of the Desert LCC area lies in the United States and the remaining 60 percent, in Mexico. The total DLCC area is 536,955 square miles or 1,390,713 square kilometers. To explore data per Desert LCC priorities, visit the Conservation Planning Atlas.

The LTRMP samples probabilistically using a stratified random sampling design within five reaches of the Upper Mississippi River (UMR) and one reach of the Illinois River. These six reaches represent a judgment sample of reaches within the Upper Mississippi River System (UMRS), and, as a result, inferences about either the UMR or the UMRS from LTRMP data must rely on models rather than on the design.

This collection consists of rock samples associated with the research of USGS scientist Paul Schmidt. This collection contains one pallet of geological samples, books and papers. Schmidt was a geologist, employed by the U.S. Geological Survey and worked from 1963 to 1984 at the Denver Federal Center. From 1984 to 1994 he worked at the U.S. Geological Survey Mission in Saudi Arabia. He retired in 1995.

These maps show baseline (1961-1990) average air temperature and projected air temperature for the decades spanning 2010-2039, 2040-2069, and 2070-2099. Temperature is expressed in both Celsius (у) and Fahrenheit (ц). Baseline results for 1961-1990 are derived from Climate Research Unit (CRU) TS 3.1. data and maps for future time periods are based on a composite of projections from five GCMs (CCSM4, GFDL-CM3, GISS-E2-R, IPSL-CM5A-LR, and MRI-CGCM3) under the AR5-RCP 8.5. Data courtesy of Scenarios Network for Alaska and Arctic Planning.

The Well Sample Library presently contains (1) approximately 10,000,000 feet of rock cuttings from 2,500 oil and gas test holes and water wells drilled in Arkansas; (2) 2,500 feet of core from 50 oil and gas tests mainly in south Arkansas; (3) 300,000 feet of core from 1,500 mineral exploration tests in the Ozark and Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas.

This collection is comprised of digital, slide and print photographs taken during minerals related field projects from 1970-2020. There are approximately 35,800 photos and slides that need to be culled, documented and archived. 81% of the photos are in digital format and most need to be manually matched with their locations from geologists’ field notes, although a small percentage have locations and descriptions that could easily be archived. The remaining 19% are slide and print format that need the same attention but are in fair to good condition for scanning purposes. There are 50 videos that are also part of this collection. These photos document field sites, geologic features, landscapes and landforms from...
