The U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Grand River Dam Authority completed a high-resolution multibeam bathymetric survey to compute a new capacity and surface-area table. The capacity and surface-area tables describe the relation between the elevation of the water surface and the volume of water that can be impounded at each given water-surface elevation. The capacity and surface area of Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees were computed from a Triangular Irregular Network (TIN) surface created in Global Mapper Version 21.0.1. This dataset includes inputs and results for parameterizing the USGS Thornthwaite Monthly Water Balance Model (MWBM) to simulate annual stream permanence on National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) stream reaches. Also included are results from sensitivity analysis of MWBM parameters to final stream permanence classification (permanent or nonpermanent). The dataset includes files that link PRISM climate grids to NHD catchments and flowlines. Data tables describe the sensitivity of MWBM stream permanence classifications to each of the altered MWBM parameters. One of the largest hydraulic mines (1.6 km2) is located in California’s Sierra Nevada within the Humbug Creek watershed and Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park (MDSHP). MDSHP’s denuded and dissected landscape is composed of weathered Eocene auriferous sediments susceptible to chronic rill and gully erosion whereas block failures and debris flows occur in more cohesive terrain. In cooperation with the South Carolina Department of Transportation, the U.S. Geological Survey prepared a geospatial raster dataset describing impervious surface in the SC StreamStats study area derived from the 30m resolution National Land Cover Dataset (NLCD) 2019. This layer, which covers the SC StreamStats study area, has been resampled from the source resolution to a scale of 30ft pixels and reprojected to the common projection of the other project data layers (SC State Plane NAD 1983 International Feet WKID 2273). This data release consists of an orthophoto of the Tanana River in Alaska acquired on July 24, 2019. The orthophoto was produced from images obtained using a Hasselblad A6D-100C 100 megapixel digital mapping camera deployed within a pod mounted on the landing gear of a Robinson R44 helicopter. Images were acquired as the helicopter transited a series of flight lines designed to provide complete coverage, with ample overlap, of the study area along the Tanana River. Also within the pod was an ATLANS GPS/Inertial Motion Unit (IMU) that recorded the position and orientation of the platform during the flight. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), prepared geographic information systems (GIS) layers for use in the West Virginia StreamStats application. The Digital Elevation Model and associated data were hydrologically conditioned, which is the process of burning in single line streams at the 1:24,000 scale into a digital elevation model to produce flow direction and flow accumulation grids. This data includes geotif images for a 10 meter digital elevation model, a flow direction, and a flow accumulation raster/grid image for the WV Streamstats area. The USGS, in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, surveyed the bathymetry within an area of about 500 acres of American Falls Reservoir between River Miles 713 and 714 during the week of August 6-8, 2019. The bathymetric survey provided high resolution detail of a proposed treatment area for an aeration system that is being developed to support water quality during the American Falls spillway concrete repair project and possibly thereafter. The Water Quality Restoration Plan detailing this effort is an appendix of the of the Final Environmental Assessment (EA) in conjunction with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance process.

This child data release includes fused topo-bathymetric digital elevation models of the Merced and Tuolumne Rivers in California used to support research on anadromous salmonids. The purpose of this study was to calculate the capacity for reintroduction of salmonids above impassable barriers. Airborne, near-infrared (NIR) LiDAR and hyperspectral imagery were acquired simultaneously in September 2014 from a Cessna Caravan, with the LiDAR data used to map topography of dry land and the imagery used to map water depth in the wetted channel.
