The Tocopilla cluster is named for the city of Tocopilla in northern Chile that is on its southern edge. The cluster includes an Mw 6.3 earthquake on September 11, 2020. A few small events that were recorded only locally are included to improve the statistical power of the calibration, but most events are observed to teleseismic distances. All events have depth control from readings at near-source or local distances, and about one third of the events also have teleseismic depth phases readings that are consistent with the inferred depths. We used the 1981 historical imagery of the Escalante River, Utah in ArcGIS to quantify channel area and average width and quantify woody riparian vegetation cover in two reaches of the river. Reach 1 was approximately 15 river kilometers (rkms) long and located between Sand and Boulder creeks within Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. Reach 2 was approximately 16 rkms in length, extending from the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area boundary to just upstream of Choprock Canyon. We delineated the extent of active channel. This data set describes the predicted daily climate (temperature and rainfall) for low, mid, and high-elevations on Mona Loa, Island of Hawaii from 2098-2100. Climate predictions are based on 3 alternative climate scenarios (RCP 4.5, A1B, and RCP 8.5) - see Liao et al. 2015 for more details and climate references. The predicted daily risk of susceptible Hawaiian honeycreepers are based on the daily climate data, mosquito abundance and other factors. In 30 surveys, we mapped 21,486 birds comprising 88 species “interact with” the intertidal habitat. Each full “survey” represents a unique month-year-tide combination (but not necessarily a unique day). Specifically, for each of 15 months between January 2012 and March 2013 we conducted separate, but temporally adjacent high-tide and low-tide bird surveys (30 in total) throughout the intertidal habitats. Back to back surveys within the same month are not meant to be independent measures of bird abundance and should be averaged to get an idea of bird abundance in a particular month. This shapefile contains sub-indices comprised of various anthropogenic land use/covers respresentative of the risk of potential habitat degradation to streams within the state of Hawaii. This file is an updated version of 'nfhap_hci_hawaii.shp' and incorporates the suggestion from the Hawaii Fish Habitat Partnership of removing trails and paths from the road network to help better represent amounts of disturbance in remote areas such as the Na Pali coast. Subindices are summarized for local and network catchments specific to perennial stream reaches throughout the state. The Okinawa cluster is named for the island of Okinawa in the Ryukyu Islands. Although there are deeper events in the area, only events with depths less than about 35 km were retained in the cluster. The cluster contains one large event, an Ms 6.5 event on March 2, 1980 to the west of the island that is likely associated with back-arc spreading. All events have depth constraint from arrivals at near- or local-distances, or from teleseismic depth phases in a few cases. Although the setting is broadly oceanic, the Ryukyu Islands are thought to be part of a remannt continental sliver, so it is not so surprising that a crustal model very close to ak135 fits the observed arrival time data well. ...
These data were collected as part of a field trial to test the effectiveness of a sylvatic plague vaccine (see Rocke et al., 2017 for details). Vaccine and control plots were selected randomly from the available pairs at each location. Baits containing Rhodamine B, a biomarker, were distributed at each plot. At least 1 week and no more than 2 months post-baiting each year, local collaborators captured, marked, and sampled prairie dogs. Hair and whisker samples were collected from up to 50 unique prairie dogs from each plot each year. The Siah Kuh cluster is named after the village of Siah Kuh (Black Mountain) in Gilan Province, Iran. It consists of only 16 events, the largest being the M4.3 event on September 5, 2005. There's a fairly large azimuthal gap to the east, but the cluster is well calibrated at a level of 1.4 km by using data up to 1.6 degrees. The Hakodate cluster is named for the city of Hakodate at the south end the island of Hokkaido, Japan. The cluster extends southward to the northern tip of Honshu.
