This child item data set provides high-resolution, nearshore, spatial water-quality data collected from Owasco Lake, New York, on June 26 and October 8, 2019. All data are reported as raw measured values. Continuous water-quality monitors were mounted to a boat at approximately 0.5-meters below the water surface and used to measure nitrate, chlorophyll fluorescence (fChl), fluorescent dissolved organic matter (fDOM), dissolved oxygen, specific conductance, phycocyanin fluorescence (fPC), turbidity, pH, and temperature.

This child item dataset contains a shapefile of labels for hydrogeologic sections illustrated in Heisig, 2023 (figure 3, plate 1). The "Sec_ID" attribute lists letter-number designations for the ends of each section. Hydrogeologic section labels are in the format x - x'. By convention, the x is on the west side and the x' is on the east side of generally horizontal sections. In generally vertical sections, the x is the westernmost of the section ends and the x' is the eastermost end of the section line.

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release contains phytoplankton classification and enumeration results from near-surface samples analyzed by imaging flow cytometry and collected as part of a harmful algae bloom (HAB) monitoring study conducted in collaboration with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC). Samples were collected biweekly from monitoring platforms in Owasco and Seneca Lakes and one bloom sample site at Emerson Park Boat Launch in Owasco Lake. This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release provides surface water quality and groundwater elevation data collected by USGS personnel within the Central Pine Barrens (CPB) Region of Suffolk County, New York, from October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022. The data were collected in cooperation with the Central Pine Barrens Commission and the Town of Brookhaven as part of a comprehensive water resources monitoring program during 2017 to 2023. This data release contains cyanotoxin, chlorophyll-a, and pheophytin-a concentration, cyanobacterial genetics, phytoplankton community composition, and multiparameter sonde data collected from 20 sites in five northeastern United States river basins (Penobscot (ME), Santuit (MA), York (VA-WV), Salem (NJ), and Peconic (NY)). Solid Phase Adsorption Toxin Tracking (SPATT) passive samplers were deployed at all sites between August 31 and September 2, 2020, and retrieved after 7 days. This child item dataset contains a shapefile that delineates ice-margin positions in the Owasco Inlet watershed and surrounding area. Ice positions mostly represent pauses during the final retreat of the ice sheet from the area. Ice-margin positions are delineated by moraines (mostly till) in upland areas and by ice-contact deposits in the valleys.

From July to November 2019, 48 environmental samples and four quality assurance and quality control samples were collected throughout the Lake Champlain and Susquehanna River Basins. Samples were collected from 10 production wells and nine domestic wells in the Lake Champlain Basin, and 14 production wells and 15 domestic wells in the Susquehanna River Basin.
