The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Upper Mississippi River Restoration (UMRR) program, through its Long Term Resource Monitoring (LTRM) element, collected aerial imagery of the systemic Upper Mississippi River System (UMRS) during the summer of 2020. A Land Cover/Land Use (LCU) spatial database was developed based on the 2020 aerial imagery, which adds a fourth systemic-wide database to the existing 1989, 2000, and 2010/11 LCU databases. Publicly accessible open spaces provide valuable opportunities for people to exercise, play, socialize, and build community. People are more likely to use public open spaces that are close (ideally within walking distance) to their homes. To assess the spatial distribution of access to open space for recreation in the southeastern United States, we constructed an index of open space access based on the size of the largest publicly accessible open space within 10 miles of each point on the landscape, using three distance categories to represent whether people can reach the open spaces by walking (within 0.5 mile), via a short drive (within 3 miles), or via a longer drive (within 10 miles). The Assessment Unit is the fundamental unit used in the National Assessment Project for the assessment of undiscovered oil and gas resources. The Assessment Unit is defined within the context of the higher-level Total Petroleum System. This sampling frame is a set of grid-based finite-area frames spanning Canada, the United States, and Mexico. The grid for the United States is broken into individual grids for the continental United States, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. Alaska is combined with Canada into a single grid. These bat location estimates have been reported by Bogan and others (In press) and come in the form of a GIS shape file. Three species of nectar-feeding phyllostomid bats migrate north from Mexico into deserts of the United States (U.S.) each spring and summer to feed on blooms of columnar cacti and century plants (Agave spp). However, the habitat needs of these important desert pollinators are poorly understood. We followed the nighttime movements of two species of long-nosed bats (Leptonycteris yerbabuenae and L. nivalis) in an area of late-summer sympatry at the northern edges of their migratory ranges. Communication antenna towers registered with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission's Antenna Structure Registration (ASR) program. The FCC requires that all towers >200 ft tall and towers <200 ft that are positioned in the glide path of an airport be registered with the FCC ASR program. Therefore, this data set does not necessarily depict all communication antennas actually present on the landscape. The source data are updated weekly by the FCC as new permits are issued. However, this data set is designed for a specific analysis, and is planned to remain static as of the publication date (11/06/2003).

Recreational birding is a popular activity in the United States. To assess the spatial distribution of recreational birding in the southeast, we combined two data sources: eBird (Sullivan et al. 2009) and the National Survey of Fishing, Hunting, and Wildlife-associated Recreation (NSFHWAR; US Department of Interior, Fish and Wildlife Service, and Department of Commerce 2011). We used spatial birding data from eBird to distribute the state-level NSFHWAR birding data by county and land protection status. A cells polygon feature class was created by the U. S. Geological Survey (USGS) to illustrate the degree of exploration, type of production, and distribution of production in the State of Pennsylvania. Each cell represents a quarter-mile square of the land surface, and the cells are coded to represent whether the wells included within the cell are predominantly oil-producing, gas-producing, both oil and gas-producing, or the type of production of the wells located within the cell is unknown or dry. We identified a set of cores for each species that include areas of high relative value to the species either in the present, the future, or both. We assessed and mapped the connections between each nearby pair of cores (both in the future and present) and used the pairwise connectivities to assemble a graph of connections and to score each core’s connectivity in the present and future. Finally, we created an overall score that combines the landscape capability value, the climate refugia value, and the connectivity of each core which we think is a good starting point for conservation of each species. Mule deer of the Kaibab North herd on the Kaibab Plateau are treasured for their historic and contemporary significance in North America. They are the densest population of mule deer in Arizona, with an estimate of 10,200 individuals in 2019. This report compiles two research efforts, the first completed by Arizona Game and Fish Department in 2014, and the second from Utah Division of Wildlife’s ongoing research started in 2017. The Kaibab Plateau is bound on the east, south, and west by vertical canyon walls which run along the Colorado River and Kanab Creek. The hydrogen index (HI) is a parameter obtained from Rock-Eval data which reflects general hydrocarbon generation and maturation trends in petroleum systems. In the Mississippian Barnett Shale, the hydrogen index was used to map general boundaries between regions of oil and gas generation within the extents of the formation. Hydrogen index values were obtained via Rock-Eval analyses of Barnett Shale core samples. In this system, HI values greater than 100 represent primarily oil generation and HI values less than 100 represent primarily gas generation.
