Raster dataset showing saturated thickness (in feet) of the alluvium in the Lower Arkansas River Valley, Southeast Colorado, June 1 - November 30, 2008 (hereafter defined as "fall"). Saturated thickness values based on water levels measured in the study area and median lake level at John Martin Reservoir during this time period. Surface interpolations for water-table altitude were done using Inverse Distance Weighting using coordinate and altitude data from "Wells and water-level altitude in the alluvium in the Lower Arkansas River Valley, Southeast Colorado, Spring and Fall 2002, 2008, and 2015" (see cross reference section in metadata), and surface interpolation of bedrock was done using Topo to Raster using elevation...

This dataset contains values of normal reservoir storage in units of acre-feet per km2, for three time periods: 1992, 2002, and 2012. Values are derived from a slightly-modified version of the National Inventory of Dams (NID) 2013 dataset, for which approximately 10% of records had the dam completion date estimated.

The Southwest Exotic Plant Mapping Program (SWEMP) is a collaborative effort between the United States Geological Survey and federal, tribal, state, county and non-governmental organization (NGO) partners in the southwest. This project is an ongoing effort to compile and distribute regional data on the occurrence of non-native invasive plants in the southwestern United States. The database represents the known sites (represented by a point location, i.e. site) of non-native invasive plant infestations within Arizona and New Mexico, and adjacent portions of California, Colorado, Nevada and Utah. These data, collected from 1911 to 2006, represent the field observations of various state, federal, tribal and county...

North American sagebrush-steppe ecosystems have decreased by about 50 percent since European settlement. As a result, sagebrush-steppe dependent species, such as the Gunnison sage-grouse, have experienced drastic range contractions and population declines. Coordinated ecosystem-wide research, integrated with monitoring and management activities, is needed to help maintain existing sagebrush habitats; however, products that accurately model and map sagebrush habitats in detail over the Gunnison Basin in Colorado are still unavailable. This research employs a combination of methods, including (1) modeling sagebrush rangeland as a series of independent objective components that can be combined and customized by any...

This shapefile contains landscape factors representing human disturbances summarized to local and network catchments of river reaches for the Great Lakes Basin Fish Habitat Partnership. This dataset is the result of clipping the feature class 'NFHAP 2010 HCI Scores and Human Disturbance Data for the Conterminous United States linked to NHDPLUSV1.gdb' to the boundary of the Great Lakes Basin Fish Habitat Partnership. Landscape factors include land uses, population density, roads, dams, mines, and point-source pollution sites. The source datasets that were compiled and attributed to catchments were identified as being: (1) meaningful for assessing fish habitat; (2) consistent across the entire study area in the way...

Chemistry data were collected or compiled from stream water, lake water, and groundwater. Stream water samples were collected more frequently to capture the range of streamflow conditions. Discretely collected samples were analyzed for nitrogen content (total Kjeldahl nitrogen and nitrate plus nitrite nitrogen) and phosphorus (total phosphorus and phosphate as phosphorus). A subset of samples were analyzed for nitrogen and oxygen isotopes associated with nitrate and phosphate, respectively, to identify nutrient sources in Willow Creek Lake.

The retention or release of nutrients into the water column from sediment, also known as internal loading, is another source of nutrients to the lake water column. Sediment cores collected from Willow Creek Lake in September 2013 and June 2014 were incubated for 7 days to assess potential for sediment to produce or consume water column phosphorus under aerobic (oxic) and anaerobic (anoxic) conditions using techniques similar to Penn and others (2000); the oxic conditions served as a control and the anoxic conditions represented typical lake sediment environments. Phosphate as phosphorus and total dissolved phosphorus release rates (milligrams phosphorus per square meter per day) were estimated by dividing the change...
This dataset includes data quality assurance information concerning the Relative Percent Difference (RPD) of laboratory duplicates. No laboratory duplicate information exists for 2010. The formula for calculating relative percent difference is: ABS(2*[(A-B)/(A+B)]). An RPD of less the 10% is considered acceptable.

This data release consists of three geophysical data sets measured in the lower Guadalupe River channel, south-central Texas, and one supplementary geophysical data set measured in a laboratory. The lower Guadalupe River is incised into the outcrop of the Carrizo-Wilcox aquifer in south-central Texas. The river and the aquifer are hydraulically connected across the outcrop, although the connectivity is obscured by alluvium and surface-water and groundwater exchange dynamics are currently poorly understood. The data sets were therefore produced to investigate surface-water and groundwater exchange dynamics between the lower Guadalupe River and the Carrizo-Wilcox aquifer, and consist of (1) a 14.86 kilometer (km)...

The data release encapsulates geospatial data in support of the regional scale study, Coal Geology and Assessment of Coal Resources and Reserves in the Little Snake River coal field and Red Desert assessment area, Greater Green River Basin, Wyoming. The assessment area covers about 2,300 square miles of the Eastern portion of the 15,400 square mile Greater Green River Basin in Southwestern Wyoming. This release includes geospatial data for the study area boundary, depth to coal, thickness of coal, outcrops and reliability. These data were compiled from numerous sources, the primary one being a database of point data that resides in a separate data release.

This data release contains output and components of the initial conterminous United States (CONUS) application of the Precipitation-Runoff Modeling System (PRMS) as implemented in the National Hydrologic Model (NHM) infrastructure (Regan et al, 2018). The PRMS version 5.0.0 hydrologic simulation code was used with the accompanying parameter files in the NHM infrastructure to produce the attached output files. Model input climate drivers include climate data derived from the Daymet gridded data set version 2 (Thornton et al., 2014) with values spatially-distributed to the HRUs using the USGS Geo Data Portal (https://cida.usgs.gov/gdp/; Blodgett et al., 2011). The parameter values are maintained in the National Hydrologic...

This data set includes sample information and results for third-party performance assessment samples analyzed for hormones and pharmaceuticals during the same general time period as environmental samples collected by the National Water-Quality Assessment (NAWQA) Project for a study of groundwater resources used for drinking-water supply across the United States, 2013 through 2015. Hormone and pharmaceutical results are provided for spiked and unspiked samples submitted by the Quality Systems Branch (QSB) Organic Blind Sample Project (OBSP), providing information regarding analyte recovery and occurrence of false positive and false negative results. Included in this data release are the following data tables: Table...

This dataset includes ten years of emissions and sequestration estimates (2005-2014) in two separate tables, 1) the combustion and extraction of fossil fuels on Federal lands and 2) processes from the ecosystems on those Federal lands. The fossil fuel related estimates include the greenhouse gases carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O), and the ecosystems estimates include only CO2. The results are presented by State and year, including the Pacific and Gulf offshore areas in the fossil fuel associated estimates. In addition to total emissions, the estimates are broken into categories by the sector of the economy where the combustion or extraction related emissions occurred or the biologic process...
