This is a first cut at a statewide 1:63,360 coastline. The entire coasline, however, is not 1:63.360; only where data was available as of January 1998. It is a mixture of sources ranging from the Department of Natural Resources, Land Records Information Section hydrography database to the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Environmentally Sensitive Index coastline (no ESI attributes included) to the US Geologic Survey hydrography to US Forest Service (in Prince William Sound). Where the 1:63,360 data was unavailable the 1:250,000 coastline was used to fill in. This information does not include lakes or streams. All streams are cut off at the mouth with a straight line. This report presents information about subsistence uses of fish, wildlife, and plant resources in Lime Village, Interior Alaska. This is the first harvest assessment survey for this community since a compilation of qualitative harvest data was completed in 1983. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game Division of Subsistence conducted the project in collaboration with Stephen R. Braund & Associates as part of a multiyear, multiphase study in a region of Southwest Alaska being considered for the development of a large scale mine. This layer represents the near-future scorecard of one indicator of ecosytem integrity. This ecosystem assessment is for projected 2025 landscape condtion (LCM). NatureServe’s ecological integrity framework provides a practical approach to organize criteria and indicators for this purpose (Faber-Langendoen et al. 2006, Unnasch et al. 2008). This framework provides a scorecard for reporting on the ecological status of a given CE within a given location, and if needed, facilitates the aggregation and synthesis of the component results for broader measures of ecological integrity at broader scales. These varying alignments are a result of the use of differing source data sets and all products derived from them. To map connectivity, we assessed development levels for relatively undeveloped areas based on the regional Terrestrial Development Index (TDI) map (TDI scores less than or equal to 1 percent), and then used the resulting output to calculate patch size and structural connectivity metrics. We mapped the structural connectivity of relatively undeveloped areas (TDI less than or equal to 1 percent) at three inter patch distances based on connectivity analysis; local (1.8 km), landscape (2.25 km), and regional (3.51 km) scales. The Monitoring Trends in Burn Severity (MTBS) project assesses the frequency, extent, and magnitude (size and severity) of all large fires (includes wildfire, wildland fire use, and prescribed fire) in the conterminous United States (CONUS), Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico for the period of 1984 through 2011. All fires reported as greater than 1,000 acres in the western U.S. and greater than 500 acres in the eastern U.S. are mapped across all ownerships. MTBS produces a series of geospatial and tabular data for analysis at a range of spatial, temporal, and thematic scales and are intended to meet a variety of information needs that require consistent data about fire effects through space and time. Terrestrial Development Index (TDI) for transportation in the Wyoming Basin REA project area. TDI scores are based on the percent of transportation surface disturbance footprint from development within a 2.25 km radius moving window for a 15m cell size. The TDI quantifies the total area of transportation surface disturbance footprint. TDI scores range from 0 to 100 percent and were divided into seven classes for visualization purposes. Because the development scores are continuous, alternative classes can be used to display the data to address a particular management question. The Vista tool is used to create a Scenario of the CAs affecting the North American Warm Desert Riparian Woodland, Shrubland, Mesquite Bosque and Stream CE and applies user-input Landscape Condition Model (LCM) scores to generate ESAs for each of the CEs. The LCM consists of Site Impact scores and impact Distances for each CA category. Site Impact scores are a value between 0 and 1 representing the impact of the CA on the relevant CEs. A score close to 1 indicates negligible or no impact from that CA. A score close to 0 indicates the highest possible impact, e.g. an interstate highway that makes the area in which it occurs completely unsuitable for the CE. This dataset shows a series of fragmentation metrics for natural vegetation for a watershed (HUC5) reporting unit. These metrics were calculated using FRAGSTATS. Mapping of terrestrial vertebrates focuses on linking a spatial representation of species-habitat matrices to geographic distribution. Each model is a combination of distribution from regional and state references in association with contiguous appropriate habitats. Ranges for all species were based on 8-digit HUCs. Habitats were based on a raster SWReGAP 1 acre MMU land cover data set, with hydrology habitats added in from USGS NHD dataset directly or through modeling. This dataset was created as a way to have standard fish distribution datasets across the various fish species for the study area. This was needed because the original source datasets for fish distributions came from several different sources and were at various scales and also overlapped. To fix the issues in the source datasets we walked the original data over to the NHD Plus hydrography.
