This dataset features suitable habitat connected to the main channel (based on floodplain inundation) within managed areas at discharges from 15,000 cfs to 100,000 cfs. The spatial extent for floodplain inundation modeling in the lower Trinity River was from Romayor, Texas, to approximately Moss Bluff, Texas. River sections were modeled using steady flow conditions. For the upper section, discharge and stage were both available for the two gages (Romayor USGS 08066500 and Liberty USGS 08067000). For the lower section, the Moss Bluff gage (USGS 08067100) is tidally-influenced, so gage height didn’t correspond to upstream changes in discharge. Depth rasters were exported from HEC-RAS 5.0.0. This data product contains estimates of habitat quality for pronghorn. The analysis area was a 236,000 square kilometers that encompassed the Navajo Nation, which includes portions of Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah. The estimates of habitat quality were created with spatially explicit habitat variables and either an expert-based linear combination process (for mountain lion and mule deer) or a generalized linear mixed model-based estimation that used radio-collar telemetry data (for desert bighorn sheep, black bear, and pronghorn; collected between 2005-2011). To create a wall-to-wall surface of landscape permeability we used the software CIRCUITSCAPE (McRae and Shah 2009), an innovative program that models species and population movements as if they were electric current flowing through a landscape of variable resistance. Circuit modeling is conceptually aligned with the concept of landscape permeability because it recognizes that movement through a landscape is affected by a variety of impediments, and it quantifies the degree and the directional outcomes of the compounding effects. The purpose of this data set is support resource allocation decisions (i.e. where to invest conservation effort) within the Gulf Coastal Plains and Ozarks Landscape Conservation Cooperative. The Condition Index ranks pixels (10-m) according to how well they meet the Desired State for the Tidal Marsh habitat system, which is described qualitatively and quantitatively in the GCPO LCC’s draft Integrated Science Agenda (v4).
