One of the largest hydraulic mines (1.6 km2) is located in California’s Sierra Nevada within the Humbug Creek watershed and Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park (MDSHP). MDSHP’s denuded and dissected landscape is composed of weathered Eocene auriferous sediments susceptible to chronic rill and gully erosion whereas block failures and debris flows occur in more cohesive terrain. This dataset contains velocity and flow log data collected in 2004 for two Yucaipa Valley Water District (YVWD) public-supply wells, YVWD 55 and YVWD 56. Data were collected using the tracer-pulse method described in Izbicki and others (1999), in which a pulse of a rhodamine dye tracer is injected to a known depth in the well and the travel time of the tracer to a detector on the surface is measured. This data set contains information on zooplankton and associated environmental parameters for sampling conducted in the San Joaquin River and False River near their confluence at Jersey Point (Contra Costa County, California), during February-March, 2016. Macrozooplankton were sampled with vertical tows (bottom to surface) of a 50 cm-diameter conical plankton net that was 150cm long with 102µm mesh.
