This dataset was created by overlaying connectivity model outputs for grizzly bear, black bear, lynx, wolverine, forest specialist species, and forest biome dwellers where they intersect the region’s major roads. It was used in conjunction with future traffic volume projections to identify priority sites for mitigating road impacts on wildlife. This project investigated the potential impacts of future housing development on traffic to determine where increased traffic from housing development will impact habitat connectivity for large carnivores. The focus of this study was Flathead and Lincoln counties in northwestern Montana. The main goal was to maintain wildlife habitat connectivity across transportation corridors...

This layer provides information on putative winter corridors facilitating dispersal from northern populations to patches capable of supporting Canada lynx in the Northern Rocky Mountains. These results combine resource selection, step selection, and least-cost path models to define movement corridors for lynx in the Northern Rocky Mountains. The illustrated corridors were created by using a one-mile buffer around the putative winter corridors facilitating dispersal from northern populations to patches capable of supporting Canada lynx in the Northern Rocky Mountains

This data set includes geospatial data and tables providing location, environmental, and vegetation data collected in 2017 and 2018 at the Little Saint Francis River (LSFR) chat pile restoration site, Fredericktown, Madison County, Missouri. Restoration actions are being implemeneted as part of the settlement for the Madison County Mines Superfund site to compensate the public for losses of natural resources and the services they provide as part of the Natural Resource Damage Assessment and Restoration Southeast Missouri Lead Mining District case. Data were collected prior to and during the early stages of restoration actions to restore bottomland forest habitat, reduce invasive plant species abundance, and improve...

Ground-based discrete snowpack measurements were collected during winter field campaigns starting in 2020. These data were collected as part of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Next Generation Water Observing System (NGWOS) Upper Colorado River Basin project focusing on the relation between snow dynamics and water resources. This data release consists of three child items. Each child item contains snow depth, snow density, snow temperature, or snow water equivalent values measured discretely in the field. The data are provided in comma separated value (CSV) files.

The Assessment Unit is the fundamental unit used in the National Assessment Project for the assessment of undiscovered oil and gas resources. The Assessment Unit is defined within the context of the higher-level Total Petroleum System. The Assessment Unit is shown here as a geographic boundary interpreted, defined, and mapped by the geologists responsible for the province and incorporates a set of known or postulated oil and (or) gas accumulations sharing similar geologic, geographic, and temporal properties within the Total Petroleum System, such as source rock, timing, migration pathways, trapping mechanism, and hydrocarbon type. The Assessment Unit boundary is defined geologically as the limits of the geologic...
The Total Petroleum System is used in the National Assessment Project and incorporates the Assessment Unit, which is the fundamental geologic unit used for the assessment of undiscovered oil and gas resources. The Total Petroleum System is shown here as a geographic boundary defined and mapped by the geologist responsible for the province and incorporates not only the set of known or postulated oil and (or) gas accumulations, but also the geologic interpretation of the essential elements and processes within the petroleum system that relate to source, generation, migration, accumulation, and trapping of the discovered and undiscovered petroleum resource(s).

This dataset is a polygon coverage of counties limited to the extent of the Pond Creek coal zone resource areas and attributed with statistics on these coal quality parameters: ash yield (percent), sulfur (percent), SO2 (lbs per million Btu), calorific value (Btu/lb), arsenic (ppm) content and mercury (ppm) content. The file has been generalized from detailed geologic coverages found elsewhere in Professional Paper 1625-C. The attributes were generated from public data found in geochemical dataset found in Chap. G, Appendix 7, Disc 1. Please see the detailed information on the geochemical attributes. The county statistical data used for this data set are found in Tables 2-5 and 17-18, Chap. G, Disc 1. This feature class was created to assemble oil and gas well information for a comprehensive inventory of energy data pertinent to the Wyoming Landscape Conservation Initiative decision-making process. These data are available as online resources for scientists, resource managers engaged in the Initiative, and other researchers. The GIS data and map services created for this study are available for interactive analysis and/or download at the Energy Geoscience Center WLCI website.

The USGS Central Region Energy Team assesses oil and gas resources of the United States. The onshore and State water areas of the United States comprise 71 provinces. Within these provinces, Total Petroleum Systems are defined and Assessment Units are defined and assessed. Each of these provinces is defined geologically, and most province boundaries are defined by major geologic changes. The Raton Basin-Sierra Grande Uplift Province is located in South Eastern Colorado and North Eastern New Mexico, encompassing all or parts of Custer, Huerfano, and Las Animas counties in Colorado and all or parts of Colfax, Harding, Mora, and Union counties in New Mexico. The main population centers within the study area are Trinidad,...
