This shapefile contains landscape factors representing human disturbances summarized to local and network catchments of river reaches for the Desert Fish Habitat Partnership. This dataset is the result of clipping the feature class 'NFHAP 2010 HCI Scores and Human Disturbance Data for the Conterminous United States linked to NHDPLUSV1.gdb' to the boundary of the Desert Fish Habitat Partnership. Landscape factors include land uses, population density, roads, dams, mines, and point-source pollution sites. The source datasets that were compiled and attributed to catchments were identified as being: (1) meaningful for assessing fish habitat; (2) consistent across the entire study area in the way that they were assembled;...
This zipped file contains grazing data (shapefiles and tables) for the Carson National Forest in New Mexico. Descriptions from attached metadata: The rmu_unit feature class depicts the boundaries of the range Allotments, General Resource Areas, and Wild Horse and Burro territories on the Carson National Forest. The rmu_subunit feature class depicts the boundaries of the range pastures and range exclosures on the Carson National Forest.

This data was produced to examine the extent and location of human induced fires throughout the western United States. The National Fire Occurrence Database (1986-1996) and additional government agency fire occurrence databases were queried for human induced fires between 1986 and 2001.
Ecoregions denote areas of general similarity in ecosystems and in the type, quality, and quantity of environmental resources. They are designed to serve as a spatial framework for the research, assessment, management, and monitoring of ecosystems and ecosystem components. These general purpose regions are critical for structuring and implementing ecosystem management strategies across federal agencies, state agencies, and nongovernment organizations that are responsible for different types of resources within the same geographical areas. The approach used to compile this map is based on the premise that ecological regions can be identified through the analysis of patterns of biotic and abiotic phenomena, including...

This layer package shows sites where hydrology data are collected for the USGS National Water Information System (NWIS) within the Southern Rockies LCC. The sites include surface water sites, groundwater sites, springs sites and atmospheric sites. The locations were downloaded using the USGS Web Services Snapshot tool, an ArcGIS add-in tool that allows users to query the NWIS database and download subsets of hydrological data into geodatabases. Each of these gage locations has associated data in NWIS, accessible through the NWIS website or with the Snapshot tool. The layer's attribute table contains the NWIS inventory URL for each gage location. There is also an online map of NWIS gages. Citation for Snapshot:...

The boundary of the Southern Rockies LCC. From metadata: Landscape conservation cooperatives (LCCs) are conservation-science partnerships between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), and other federal agencies, states, tribes, NGOs, universities and stakeholders within a geographically defined area. They inform resource management decisions to address national-scale stressors-including habitat fragmentation, genetic isolation, spread of invasive species, and water scarcity-all of which are accelerated by climate change.

This data set contains statewide grazing allotment boundaries, for use in planning and land management. It contains the allotment name, number and manager. There are three allotment managers included: Bureau of Land Management, the U.S. Forest Service and SITLA (School and Institutional State Trust Lands Administration).
Downloadable GIS data showing 303(d) listed impaired waters within the boundary of the SRLCC (created by merging state data and clipping the merged shapefile to the footprint of the SRLCC). Data can also be accessed through web services (select access, then geospatial links). Link to EPA Metadata From Metadata Abstract: "The 303(d) Listed Impaired Waters program system provides impaired water data and impaired water features reflecting river segments, lakes, and estuaries designated under Section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act. Each State will establish Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) for these waters. Note the CWA Section 303(d) list of impaired waters does not represent waters that are impaired but have an...

Shapefiles showing the major streams and water bodies of the SRLCC. For more detailed hydrology GIS data, see the ScienceBase item National Hydrography Dataset to access NHD web services and a link to the NHD website. These shapefiles were downloaded from the National Atlas and clipped to the boundary of the SRLCC. See attached text documents for metadata information.

The footprint of the SRLCC, showing boundaries of 12 digit Hydrologic Unit Codes (HUCs). Watersheds in the United States are organized by the USGS into divisions and subdivisions called hydrologic units and are assigned hydrologic unit codes. The first level divides the U.S. into 21 regions (the first 2 digits of a 12 digit code), the 2nd level is into 221 subregions (the first 4 digits) and so on, into basins (6 digits), subbasins (8 digits), watersheds (10 digits) and subwatersheds (12 digits). The three shapefiles here display the 2 unit, 8 unit and 12 unit HUCs. The shapefiles were downloaded from the Natural Resource Conservation Service's Data Gateway (http://datagateway.nrcs.usda.gov) and clipped to the...

Boundary for floristic regions used for the conservation assessment of Greater Sage-grouse and sagebrush habitat conducted by the Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies. The floristic provinces were digitized from a figure from Miller, R. F., and L. Eddleman. 2001. Spatial and temporal changes of sage-grouse habitat in the sagebrush biome. Oregon State University, Agricultural Experiment Station. Technical Bulletin 151. This coverage defines the floristic context in which a range-wide conservation assessment of the Greater Sage-grouse and sagebrush habitats was conducted. Defining the major floristic properties of areas occupied by the historical distribution of sage grouse permitted the comparison...

Ecoregions are relatively large units of land containing distinct assemblages of natural communities and species, with boundaries that approximate the original...
This zipped file contains grazing data (shapefiles and tables) for the Cibola National Forest in New Mexico. Descriptions from attached metadata: The rmu_unit feature class depicts the boundaries of the range Allotments, General Resource Areas, and Wild Horse and Burro territories. The rmu_subunit feature class depicts the boundaries of the range pastures and range exclosures. The Keyarea feature class depicts the key area boundaries - key areas depict monitoring area boundaries within each pasture.
These two shapefiles, from Colorado State University's Natural Heritage Program, provide information on priority conservation areas in Colorado. This data set consists of federally owned land polygon features of the United States. The data set was created by extracting federal land polygon features from the individual 1:2,000,000-scale State boundary Digital Line Graph (DLG) files produced by the U.S. Geological Survey. These files were then appended into a single coverage. This is a revised version of the June 1998 data set. There may be private inholdings within the boundaries of Federal Lands in this data set. These data are intended for geographic display and analysis at the national level, and for large regional areas. The data should be displayed and analyzed at scales appropriate for 1:2,000,000-scale data. No responsibility is assumed by the U.S....
