The text file "Air temperature.txt" contains hourly air temperature data in degrees Fahrenheit and associated data-source flags from January 1, 1948, to September 30, 2021. The primary data for water year 2021 (a water year is the 12-month period, October 1 through September 30, designated by the calendar year in which it ends) were downloaded from the Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) (Argonne National Laboratory, 2022) and they were processed following the guidelines documented in Over and others (2010). The text file "PET.txt" contains hourly potential evapotranspiration (PET) data, in thousandths of an inch, from January 1, 1948, to September 30, 2018. Daily PET were computed from average daily air temperature, average daily dewpoint temperature, daily total wind speed, and daily total solar radiation and disaggregated to hourly PET, using the Fortran program LXPET (Murphy, 2005). These data were collected in coordination with the U.S. Geological Survey Hydrogeophysics Branch for the National Crude Oil Spill Fate and Natural Attenuation Research Site. Water quality data were collected using an Ecomapper Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) and measured parameters include temperature, specific conductance, salinity, water density, pH, dissolved oxygen, total chlorophyll, and blue-green algae. These data are provided in two formats: a CSV file named AUV_WQ_South.csv, and in the Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) shapefile format consisting of a group of files that have been compressed into a zip archive that is named AUV_WQ_South_shapefile.zip.

The U.S. Geological Survey collected topographic data in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to assist in the management of two recreation areas at Blue Mountain Lake and near Nimrod Lake in Arkansas. Data were collected March 3-4, 2020 using terrestrial light detection and ranging (T-lidar) surveying equipment, Global navigation Satellite System (GNSS) surveying equipment, and conventional surveying techniques. Water supply lakes are the primary source of water for many communities in northern and western Missouri. Therefore, accurate and up-to-date estimates of lake capacity are important for managing and predicting adequate water supply. Many of the water supply lakes in Missouri were previously surveyed by the U.S. Geological Survey in the early 2000s (Richards, 2013) and in 2013 (Huizinga, 2014); however, years of potential sedimentation may have resulted in reduced water storage capacity. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the city of Harrisonville, Missouri, assessed flooding of Muddy Creek resulting from varying precipitation magnitudes and durations, antecedent soil moisture conditions, and channel conditions. The precipitation scenarios were used to develop a library of flood-inundation maps that included a 3.8-mile reach of Muddy Creek and tributaries within and adjacent to the city. The Fluvial Egg Drift Simulator (FluEgg) estimates bighead, silver, and grass carp egg and larval drift in rivers using species-specific egg developmental data combined with user-supplied hydraulic inputs (Garcia and others, 2013; Domanski, 2020). This data release contains results from 240 FluEgg 4.1.0 simulations of bighead carp eggs in the Illinois River under steady flow conditions. These monthly water-use rasters estimate the total amount of groundwater used for aquaculture and irrigation purposes within the Mississippi Alluvial Plain during the growing season (April-October). This dataset contains 798 monthly water-use rasters for 6 different categories: aquaculture, cotton, corn, rice, soybeans, and all other crops. Units are in cubic meters per square mile.
