This data release contains monthly and annual water-use estimates from the Aquaculture and Irrigation Water-Use Model version 1.0 for the Mississippi Alluvial Plain, April 1999 to October 2017. Aquaculture and irrigation estimates contained in this data release are representative of groundwater withdrawal for six different categories: aquaculture, cotton, corn, rice, soybeans, and all other crops. Contained in this data release are monthly and annual estimates by water-use category and monthly and annual total estimates. Monthly and annual totals are a summation of water use for aquaculture, cotton, corn, rice, soybeans, and all other crops, by month and by year. This data release contains daily mean squared logarithmic error (MSLE), as well as several decompositions of the MSLE, for three streamflow models: nearest-neighbor drainage area ratio (NNDAR), a simple statistical model that re-scales streamflow data from the nearest streamgage; the version 3.0 calibration of the National Hydrologic Model Infrastructure application of the Precipitation-Runoff Modeling System (NHM-PRMS); and version 2.0 of the National Water Model (NWM). Error was determined by evaluating each model daily against streamflow observations from 1,021 ‘reference’ (minimally anthropogenically impacted [Falcone, 2011]) watersheds across the conterminous United States with at least 10 years of observations....

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) conducted a bathymetric survey of the White River immediately downstream of the Beaver Reservoir Dam in Carroll County, Arkansas, on January 22, 2020. Channel-bed elevations were collected to support a USACE hydraulic modeling effort on the White River. Cross-sectional data within the river channel were collected using an acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) coupled with a differentially corrected global positioning system (GPS) receiver. This data release contains daily time series estimates of natural streamflow for 1,385 streamgages in 19 study regions in the conterminous U.S. from October 1, 1980, through September 30, 2017. These estimates are provided for gages from mostly undisturbed watersheds as defined by Falcone (2011), using five statistical techniques: nearest-neighbor drainage area ratio (NNDAR), map-correlation drainage area ratio (MCDAR), nearest-neighbor nonlinear spatial interpolation using flow duration curves (NNQPPQ), map-correlation nonlinear spatial interpolation using flow duration curves (MCQPPQ), and ordinary kriging of the logarithms of discharge per unit area (OKDAR). These data files include georeferenced water-quality data with associated time stamps (Central Standard Time) for basic water-quality parameters as measured by a towed multiparameter sonde (YSI 6920 sonde) from a manned boat in the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal. Data were collected on February 25-27, 2010, and again on March 2-3, 2010. The data collected in February 2010 had the sonde on a fixed mount about 1 foot below the surface. The data collected in March 2010 had the sonde on a towed cable about 7-9 feet below the surface. All data have been edited and reviewed. Omitted data have been flagged with a data value of -9999 in the data files.
The text file "Dewpoint temperature.txt" contains hourly dewpoint temperature data in degrees Fahrenheit and associated data-source flags from January 1, 1948, to September 30, 2019. The primary data for water year 2019 (a water year is the 12-month period, October 1 through September 30, designated by the calendar year in which it ends) were downloaded from the Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) (Argonne National Laboratory, 2019) and they were processed following the guidelines documented in Over and others (2010). The processed data were appended to ARGN18.WDM (Bera, 2019) and renamed as ARGN19.WDM. Hydrologic influences on water levels were investigated at Three Oaks Recreation Area (TORA), a former sand-and-gravel quarry converted into recreational lakes in Crystal Lake, Illinois. From 2009 to 2015, average water levels in the lakes declined nearly 4 feet. It was not clear if these declines were related to variations in weather (precipitation or evaporation) or other hydrologic influences such as municipal supply pumping or nearby quarry operations. This dataset contains the final water-level records (334) that met all threshold criteria and had an absolute residual (ABS_PSEUDO_LEV) of less than 20 feet. The threshold of 20 feet was selected based on water-level changes of the U.S. Geological Survey groundwater site 363551090152801 Qulin, in the Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer. This final dataset is considered a best representation of the true water-levels in the aquifer.

From June 19–22, 2018, bathymetric, water velocity, and water temperature data were collected on the St. Croix River between St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, and Stillwater, Minnesota. These data were collected with a Teledyne RD Instruments RiverRay acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) and georeferenced using a Trimble R10 Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver connected to a real-time virtual reference station (VRS) network. The GNSS receiver was mounted directly above the ADCP and data were read directly into the ADCP data collection software. This data release contains a set of permeameter test data collected in February and March of 2014 on the Cedar River near Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The permeameter tests were performed in proximity to five horizontal collector wells (HCs) 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6, and three vertical wells that are operated by the City of Cedar Rapids. Each dataset represents groundwater levels over time while individual HC and a few selected vertical wells (S10, S18, S23) had pumps turned on or off to look at the response of the streambed sediments as it relates to the operations of HCs and vertical wells. Water supply lakes are the primary source of water for many communities in northern and western Missouri. Therefore, accurate and up-to-date estimates of lake capacity are important for managing and predicting adequate water supply. Many of the water supply lakes in Missouri were previously surveyed by the U.S. Geological Survey in the early 2000s (Richards, 2013) and in 2013 (Huizinga, 2014); however, years of potential sedimentation may have resulted in reduced water storage capacity. Periodic bathymetric surveys are useful to update the area/capacity table and to determine changes in the bathymetric surface. Beaver Lake was constructed in 1966 on the White River in the northwest corner of Arkansas for flood control, hydroelectric power, public water supply, and recreation. The surface area of Beaver Lake is about 27,900 acres and approximately 449 miles of shoreline are at the conservation pool level (1,120 feet above the North American Vertical Datum of 1988). Sedimentation in reservoirs can result in reduced water storage capacity and a reduction in usable aquatic habitat. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Cook County Bureau of Technology (BOT), prioritized waterbodies (lakes, rivers, and canals) of interest within Cook County to survey in 2022. These surveys describe the bathymetry and basic water-quality conditions observed, and could be used by the BOT to assist with resource management decisions and uses, as well as build an inventory that could be shared with other local governmental agencies.
