The national dataset was clipped to the WLCI envelope by USGS staff. No other processing was performed on the dataset. This map layer is commonly called Bailey's ecoregions and shows ecosystems of regional extent in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Four levels of detail are included to show a hierarchy of ecosystems. The largest ecosystems are domains, which are groups of related climates and which are differentiated based on precipitation and temperature. Divisions represent the climates within domains and are differentiated based on precipitation levels and patterns as well as temperature. Divisions are subdivided into provinces, which are differentiated based on vegetation or other...

This dataset was clipped to the WLCI study area by USGS staff. This metadata references the polygonal ARC/INFO GIS cover showing the current and historic distribution of potential habitat, or range, of the Greater Sage-grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus) and Gunnison Sage-grouse (Centrocercus minimus) in Western North America. This data was initially researched and compiled by Dr. Michael A. Schroeder, research biologist for the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife. The initial draft of current and historic range data was mapped and submitted to state, federal, or provincial natural resource agencies and other experts for review, comment, and editing. The final product represents the best available science...

This data contains land cover (mostly vegetation types) for the entire state of Wyoming at 1:100,000 scale. Attribute fields describe primary and secondary land cover, crown closure, wetlands, disturbance and other important land cover types occuring within the polygon. Only the fields for primary land cover and percentage of each polygon occupied by that land cover are complete in the coverage, but other attribute fields are populated when information was available.

These data represent the boundary of the Wyoming Landscape Conservation Initiative (WLCI). The WLCI is part of the Healthy Lands Initiative (http://www.doi.gov/initiatives/healthylands.html). The boundaries used for creating this dataset are as follows: South: Wyoming-Colorado/Wyoming-Utah State Line West: Wyoming-Utah/Wyoming-Idaho State Line North: Lincoln-Teton/Sublette-Teton/Sublette-Fremont County Line to the eastern most crossing of the Continental Divide East: The Continental Divide The general WLCI boundaries were obtained from an earlier version of these data produced by the BLM. The boundary was updated in an attempt to increase the accuracy using one common source. These data were created via on-screen...

Dataset was clipped to the original WLCI Area of Interest, effective 2007-May 2009, by USGS staff. This layer is based on Geographic Coordinate Data Base (GCDB) coordinate data. The locations of Public Land Survey System (PLSS) corners, as represented in geographic coordinate pairs, were derived from a variety of source documents, which include U.S. General Land Office and BLM survey plats/notes, as well as survey data obtained from other U.S. Government agencies, private sector survey firms, and local governments. The attributes assigned to Public Land Survey System (PLSS) polygons were taken from the BLM's Legal Land Description (LLD) data set, contained within the Legacy Rehost for the year 2000 (LR2000) automated...

This dataset was clipped to the WLCI study area by USGS staff. USGS 1:100,000 Topographic Quadrangle Series Indexes represents the geographic extent of USGS 1:100,000 topographic maps (30- by 60-minute quadrangles) for the coterminous U.S. forty-eight states and District of Columbia.

This dataset was clipped to the original WLCI study area (effective 2007-May 2009) by USGS staff. This dataset represents surficial geology of Wyoming at 1:500,000-scale. The layer contains 577 separate surficial feature (landforms) and deposit descriptions present on the surface in the state. Compiled from aerial photography and existing maps this layer represents the first comprehensive surficial geology map of Wyoming.

This dataset was clipped to the WLCI study area by USGS staff. The geologic map was digitized from original scribe sheets used to prepare the published Geologic Map of Wyoming (Love and Christiansen, 1985), consequently at a 1:500,000 scale. Stable base contact prints of the scribe sheets were scannned on a Tektronix 4991 digital scanner. The scanner automatically converts the scanned image to an ASCII vector format. These vectors were transferred to a VAX minicomputer, where they were loaded into Arc/Info. The dataset includes both linear and polygon features, with attributes derived from the original 1985 map.

The Wyoming Landscape Conservation Initiative (WLCI) Boundary was buffered by 10 KM and intersected with the U.S. USGS 1:100,000 Topographic Quadrangle Series Index. The intersecting quadrangles were clipped, and then the quad boundary lines dissolved to form the Area of Interest for the WLCI.

These data represent the revised boundary of the Wyoming Landscape Conservation Initiative (WLCI). This revised WLCI bounday replaced the original WLCI boundary in May 2009, with the addition of Saratoga-Encampment-Rawlins Conservation District and the Medicine Bow Conservation District. The WLCI is part of the Healthy Lands Initiative (http://www.doi.gov/initiatives/healthylands.html). The boundaries used for creating this dataset are as follows: South: Wyoming-Colorado/Wyoming-Utah State Line West: Wyoming-Utah/Wyoming-Idaho State Line North: Lincoln-Teton/Sublette-Teton/Sublette-Fremont County Line to the eastern most crossing of the Continental Divide East: The Continental Divide The general WLCI boundaries...

Data merged for the WLCI by USGS Staff. This dataset represents soils of Wyoming at 1:100,000- scale. The layer contains 350 separate soils descriptions across 23 Wyoming counties. The layer was compiled based on the five-factor soil forming model using digital surficial geology, bedrock geology, and elevation. This dataset will be more fully documented in 23 AES publications scheduled for completion in winter of 99/00. These publications will use the designation AES Bulletin B-1071 followed by a two letter abreviation for each county.
