The Rangeland Hydrologic Erosion Model (RHEM) is an online model developed by the United States Department of Agriculture that is used to predict erosion and runoff in rangelands. The model was used to determine runoff and erosion predicitions for five different scenarios in the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument. The five scenarios that RHEM was used to look at in the monument include current conditions as of 2016; climate variability; scrub encroachment; drought, heavy grazing, or land-use pressure; and vegetation removal. The purpose of this data release is to present well location and construction data for select wells representing the water table in eastern Albuquerque and the selected groundwater-level measurements at the wells from the winters of 2008 and 2016. Construction and groundwater-level measurement data include screening intervals at the water table, reference elevation, depth to water in feet and elevation, measurement data, and latitude and longitude. During the spring and early summer of 2012, approximately 1,200 square kilometers of Gila National Forest in southwestern New Mexico, including the upper portions of the Whitewater Creek watershed, were burned by the Whitewater-Baldy Complex Fire. The following September 12-17, 2013, a near-record, one-week long storm event produced widespread, historic rainfall amounts throughout the southwest U.S. in four distinct pulses. This data release contains inputs for and outputs from hydrologic simulations of the Upper Rio Hondo Subbasin, New Mexico using the Precipitation-Runoff Modeling System (PRMS). Input data for the entire Upper Rio Hondo Subbasin were developed, but output data only from the North Fork Eagle Creek subwatershed were used. Input data include parameter files for two PRMS models calibrated to prefire conditions and postfire conditions.
