The Sprague River drains 4090 square kilometers in south-central Oregon before flowing into the Williamson River and upper Klamath Lake. In cooperation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the USGS and University of Oregon conducted a study to evaluate channel and floodplain processes for the 131 km of the Sprague River and its major tributaries, including the lower 20 km of the South Fork Sprague River, the lower 16 km of the...

Fanno Creek is a tributary to the Tualatin River and flows though parts of the southwest Portland metropolitan area. The stream is heavily influenced by urban runoff and shows characteristic flashy streamflow and poor water quality commonly associated with urban streams. This data set represents the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), or "greenness" of the Fanno Creek floodplain study area. Aerial photography was used...

Using available aerial photos from approximately a 15-year period, changes in timber harvest were mapped in the Little North Santiam River Basin, Oregon. Timber harvest plots as seen on digital orthophotos from 1995, 2000, 2005, and 2009 were digitized and attributed based on harvest type or purpose: clearcut, thinning, or development.

This data set is a digital soil survey and generally is the most detailed level of soil geographic data developed by the National Cooperative Soil Survey. The information was prepared by digitizing maps, by compiling information onto a planimetric correct base and digitizing, or by revising digitized maps using remotely sensed and other information. This data set consists of georeferenced digital map data and computerized attribute...

The wntop_f grid represents the modeled elevation of the top of the Wanapum Basalt geomodel unit at a 500 foot resolution. It is one grid of a geomodel that consists of eleven grids and a spatial extent polygon shapefile. As part of a U.S. Geological Survey Groundwater Resources Program study, a three-dimensional geomodel was constructed for approximately 53,000 mi2 of the Columbia Plateau in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. This geomodel...

The domain of the model is as follows: Row River from Dorena dam to the confluence with the Coast Fork; Coast Fork from Cottage Grove dam to the confluence with the Middle Fork; Silk Creek from River Mile 1.7 to the confluence with the Coast Fork. The basis for these features is the Willamette Flood Insurance Study – Phase One (2013). The hydraulics and hydrology for the FIS were reused in the production of these polygons; the reports and information associated with the FIS are applicable to this product. The Digital Elevation Model (DEM) utilized for the Willamette FIS submittal was produced by combining multiple overlapping topographic surveys for the Middle Fork and Coast Fork of the Willamette River. This DEM...

A three-dimensional integrated groundwater/surface-water model was developed for the upper Deschutes Basin in central Oregon to better understand groundwater and surface-water flow and interconnections, and to provide the capability for simulating the hydrologic response to external stresses including climate change. The model was calibrated using groundwater and streamflow observation data collected from 1980 through 2013. This data release contains all of the input and output files for simulation of historic conditions (the base run) plus three hypothetical pumping scenarios described in the associated USGS report: “Simulation of Groundwater and Surface-Water Flow in the Upper Deschutes Basin, Oregon” by Marshall...

The Umpqua River drains 12,103 square kilometers (4,673 square miles) in southwest Oregon before flowing into the Pacific Ocean at Winchester Bay near the city of Reedsport. In cooperation with the Portland District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), the USGS evaluated sediment transport and gravel storage along the downstream alluvial reaches of the North and South Umpqua Rivers and the entire mainstem Umpqua River. This...
