This dataset represents soils of Wyoming at 1:100,000- scale. The layer contains 350 separate soils descriptions across 23 Wyoming counties. The layer was compiled based on the five-factor soil forming model using digital surficial geology, bedrock geology, and elevation. This dataset will be more fully documented in 23 AES publications scheduled for completion in winter of 99/00. These publications will use the designation AES Bulletin B-1071 followed by a two letter abreviation for each county.

Hydrographic features for Wyoming at 1:100,000-scale, including perennial and intermittent designations and Strahler stream order attributes for streams. Does not include man-made ditches, canals and aqueducts. The data was originally produced by USGS, a Digital Line Graph (DLG) product, though this product was enhanced (edgematched, some linework and attributes corrected, stream order attribute added). A subset of this dataset is also available for distribution, including only major streams (order 4 to 7) and major lakes and reservoirs. In order to reduce the size of this subset, the line segments were dissolved to remove unncessary segments.
The Wyoming Geographic Information Science Center (WyGISC) is an interdisciplinary research institute at the University of Wyoming focused on the development of geospatial information and technologies and their applications in science, education, government and business. This dataset represents land cover for southeastern Wyoming including the portion of Laramie County from Interstate 25 west, all of Albany and Carbon Counties and part of Sweetwater county. The landcover map was developed from Landsat Enhanced Thematic Mapper (ETM+) data acquired in the summer of 2002 using a series of unsupervised classifications and guided labeling of classes based on field data. The map was created between 2002 and 2004 for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department as part of a larger spatial database designed to be used to help guide their land management activities, particularly in shrublands. The original resolution of this map is 30 meters, the full resolution of the Landsat multispectral data....

This dataset represents soils of Wyoming at 1:500,000- scale. The layer contains 45 separate soils descriptions across 10 Wyoming soil zones. The layer was compiled based on the five-factor soil forming model using digital surficial geology, bedrock geology, and elevation. This dataset is documented in the report: Munn, L.C. and C.S. Arneson, 1998. Soils of Wyoming: A Digital Statewide Map at 1:500,000-Scale. Agricultural Experiment Station Report B-1069. University of Wyoming, College of Agriculture, Laramie, Wyoming.

Federal American Indian reservations are areas that have been set aside by the United States for the use of tribes. The U.S. Census Bureau recognizes federal reservations as territory over which American Indian tribes have primary governmental authority. This shapefile is for Wyoming reservation boundaries only.

This dataset represents an aquifer sensitivity rating for land surface slope in the State of Wyoming. This dataset is specifically to be used within a DRASTIC-type aquifer sensitivity/vulnerability analysis. The dataset is in raster format, either 100 or 500 meter cell size. For more details about this dataset, please refer to this report: Hamerlinck, J.D. and Arneson, C.S., editors, 1998, Wyoming Ground-Water Vulnerability Assessment Handbook: Volume 1. Background, Model Development, and Aquifer Sensitivity Analysis: Wyoming Geographic Information Science Center Publication WyGISC 98-01-1, University of Wyoming, Laramie, WY.

2000 Census blocks were analgamated and then joined to 2000 census demographics. All files were downloaded from the ESRI website: http://www.esri.com/data/download/census2000_tigerline/index.html. The original shapefile was reprojected from GCS_1983 to UTM_NAD 83 Zone 13N so that each census block's area could be calculated in square meters. A formula from the ArcMap Help was used in each census block's area calculation. Square meters were convereted to square miles, and finally people per square mile was computed.

From the US Bureau of Mines map publication, "Availability of Federally Owned Minerals for Exploration and Development in the Western United States". The Bureau of Mines inventoried Federal mineral land in Wyoming and assessed the availability of this land for mineral exploration and development as affected by legal status and agency management practices. To illustrate the impact that various Federal land use decisions have on the mineral industry, the USBM also identified and ranked known mineral deposit areas (KMDAs)-i.e., areas having past or present mineral production and /or known mineral resources- and compared these areas spatially with availability of Federal mineral lands. Most Federal minerals, except...

A ZIP Code tabulation area (ZCTA) is a statistical geographic entity that approximates the delivery area for a U.S. Postal Service five-digit or three-digit ZIP Code. ZCTAs are aggregations of census blocks that have the same predominant ZIP Code associated with the addresses in the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File (MAF). Three-digit ZCTA codes are applied to large contiguous areas for which the U.S. Census Bureau does not have five-digit ZIP Code information in its MAF. ZCTAs do not precisely depict ZIP Code delivery areas, and do not include all ZIP Codes used for mail delivery. The U.S. Census Bureau has established ZCTAs as a new geographic entity similar to, but replacing, data tabulations for ZIP Codes...

A subset (clipped to the boundaries of Wyoming) of a national dataset containing the National Forest Administrative boundaries for the lower 48 United States, including Alaska and Puerto Rico. The data contains polygons depicting the boundary encompassing all the National Forest System (NFS) lands administered by the Administration Unit. The nationwide dataset is comprised of data extracted from multiple sources; Regional ALP coverages, Regional GIS coverages, Cartographic Feature Files (CFF) and other sources, such as USGS and BLM 1:100000 scale maps. The nationwide dataset was created from consolidating regional forest wide coverages. Data was validated using local stewardship to provide the most current and accurate...
