These datasets (S2-S3) document the transmission of a bacterial pathogen (Mycoplasma agassizii) between desert tortoises (Gopherus agassizii) experimentally introduced in captivity and were used to create and compare models predicting transmission probability given data on the hosts and their interactions. Dataset S2 includes variables describing the individual tortoises interacting, e.g. id, sex; variables describing the length of their interaction, e.g., number of days cohabitating, hours of direct contact; and variables estimating the infection level (based on data in S3) of infected tortoises involved in the interaction with the focal host.Interaction time and the amount of bacteria present in an infected host...
These datasets were developed to represent the genetic diversity, population structure, and geographic distribution of Plantago ovata in the Mojave Desert. This data release consists of two tab-delimited text files representing the genetic diversity and structure of Plantago ovata (.genepop and .vcf), and two raster spatial datasets (GeoTIFF) reflecting predicted habitat for the species within the Mojave Desert. The genetic datasets record genetic variation at an individual level, with the file structures varying based on the programs within which the files are intended to be edited. Each file contains 13,111 SNPs genotyped in 748 individuals. The genepop file can be viewed in GENEPOP software (Rousset 2008) or...

Seed sourcing strategies that incorporate spatially explicit genetic information promote effective revegetation by reducing genetic risk factors, such as maladaptation, outbreeding, and inbreeding depression. Molecular markers represent an increasingly robust and cost- efficient data source for uncovering patterns of adaptive divergence in high-priority species to support restoration decision making. This project uses marker-based genetic analyses to develop empirical seed transfer zones for species that have been genotyped at a wide range of sites in the Mojave Desert. Empirical seed transfer zones delineate areas within which seeds may be transferred with limited risk of maladaptation or outbreeding depression....

Expansion of renewable energy development is rapidly transforming the Mojave Desert landscape and has the potential to impact Golden Eagles through loss of foraging habitat and reduced prey base. Regional information on Golden Eagle food habits is limited and little is known of how dietary variability influences eagle productivity. We examined diet using motion activated trail cameras and collection of prey remains at 18 nests during two seasons (2014 and 2015). As well as Golden Eagle prey abundance spotlight line transects conducted and data collected throughout the Mojave Desert Ecoregion in 2014 and 2015. The 138 spotlight line transects conducted in 2014 were a uniform 5 km in length, while the 45 spotlight...
