This dataset represents all of the Historical Trails in Wyoming, including those designated as National Historic Trails. These data have been collected using methods ranging from screen digitizing at a large scale to collecting trails with aGlobal Positioning System (GPS). In general, the main trail system(Oregon/California/Mormon Pioneer/Pony Express) is the most accurate, falling somewhere between the 24K and 100K mapping standards. Still, these trails represent only an approximation of the centerline of the trails system and should be used only as a preliminary planning tool. Consultation with the appropriate Field Office will still be necessary for any specific project.
GeoCommunicator is a website (www.geocommunicator.gov) for cadastral survey and land management information and data from the National Integrated Land System. The website provides for the distribution of the Public Land Survey System (PLSS), other survey-based data, and the federal surface management agency boundaries. Land and mineral use record information, mining claims, and conveyances from the BLM's LR2000 system can be accessed and mapped through geocommunicator.
The District Boundaries were created from the Field Office Boundaries data layer. The BLM Field Office boundaries were mapped using the best available digital data. Lines that follow section, township, or 1/4 /14 lines follow Geographic Coordinate Database(GCDB) lines. Lines that follow hydrologic divides follow watershed boundaries from this http://www.wygisc.uwyo.edu/clearinghouse/watershed24k.html coverage. GPS and 1:24k allotment data was used when available.
Raster file of land use and land cover mapping in the 'Lander' study area at 30m pixel level. Map extent corresponds to 6,490,062 acre area of central Wyoming in the counties Fremont, Natrona, Carbon, Sweetwater, and Hot Springs. A 3km buffer was applied to map extent extending the raster file into the counties of Washakie, Park, Teton, and Sublette.
This database for the Oregon, California, Mormon Pioneer, and Pony Express National Historic Trails is comprised of digital topographic data and reference line established using point data gathered with Global Positioning System (GPS) technology which represents only an approximation of the centerline of the trails system. This database, which is to be used in conjunction with ArcView software, is provided to assist the user in analyzing the visibility of any proposed location within 5 miles of the GPS reference line of the trails in order to evaluate effects to the landscape and setting of National Historic Trails in accordance with the National Historic Preservation Act and its implementing regulations at 36CFR...
