In response to the Nisqually earthquake of 2001, DGER was awarded a grant by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Washington Emergency Management Division to develop two types of earthquake hazard maps for every county in the state—liquefaction susceptibility maps, which outline areas where water-saturated sandy soil loses strength during earthquake shaking, and NEHRP (National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program) site class maps, which outline areas where soils amplify ground shaking. The maps will be used by state and local governments to update existing hazard mitigation plans and to delineate geologically hazardous areas under the Growth Management Act. In response to the Nisqually earthquake of...
This map service is an information surface which displays what percentage of the soil map unit is subject to water being ponded on the soil surface. Each soil map unit polygon falls into one of the following classes according to NRCS: 0-14%, 15-49%, 50-74% or 75-100%. Esri is providing NRCS SSURGO content here without modification except for some cartography and publishing necessary to facilitate esri user access to these data. Of course, esri will continue to update this inform This map service is an information surface which displays what percentage of the soil map unit is subject to water being ponded on the soil surface. This map presents land cover and detailed topographic maps for the United States. It uses the USA Topographic Map service. The map includes the National Park Service (NPS) Natural Earth physical map at 1.24km per pixel for the world at small scales, i-cubed eTOPO 1:250,000-scale maps for the contiguous United States at medium scales, and National Geographic TOPO! 1:100,000 and 1:24,000-scale maps (1:250,000 and 1:63,000 in Alaska) for the United States at large scales. The TOPO! maps are seamless, scanned images of United States Geological Survey (USGS) paper topographic maps.

This map service allows the exploration of hydraulic aspects of the middle and lower Yellowstone River. It includes interpretations of the channel migration zone, areas that may potentially be inundated by floods, historic locations of the river channel, an inventory of man-made features in or near the channel that may impact the stream flow, and, for selected areas, a time series of these man-made features. Please see
This map service is an information surface which displays the hydrologic soil group class of each soil map unit based upon the dominant component in the soil map unit. Hydrologic soil groups are based on estimates of runoff potential. Soils are assigned to one of four groups according to the rate of water infiltration when the soils are not protected by vegetation, are thoroughly wet, and receive precipitation from long-duration storms. This map service is an information surface representing the dominant class within the soil map unit polygon for flooding frequency probability. Each component (and therefore soil map unit polygon) falls into one of the following classes according to NRCS: None, Very rare, Rare, Occasional, Frequent, and Very frequent. The class belonging to the component that makes up the highest percentage of the map unit is reported by the map service. Another service exists for flooding frequency class which reports the most frequent class in the soil map unit. The concept is similar but for some purposes knowing the most frequently flooding component may be the most useful piece of information to know about soil map unit...
This map service is used in MyWATERS Mapper to display the NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) permit status of facilities by state. Water pollution degrades surface waters making them unsafe for drinking, fishing, swimming, and other activities. As authorized by the Clean Water Act, the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit program controls water pollution by regulating point sources that discharge pollutants into waters of the United States. Point sources are discrete conveyances such as pipes or man-made ditches. This map service contains GIS data in NAD83 from the EPA Office of Water for the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) integrated with reach-related information from the USEPA Reach File Version 3.0-Alpha release (RF3-Alpha). This service also includes hydrographic landmark features in NHD. It is available as a WMS, WFS and REST service as well as the native MapServer service. Details include symbology based on the NHD symbol set and labels for flowlines and waterbodies.

Critical habitats are areas considered critical to the survival of a particular species, as determined by USFWS. Ecoregions are areas of similar biota and climate, as determined by the EPA. This map was created by calculating the percent of each ecoregion that is considered critical habitat, regardless of species. The Critical Habitat by Ecoregion map was derived by calculating the percentage of each Ecoregion that is occupied by pixels representing Critical Habitat (of any species). This layer contains data describing thermal springs in Montana, obtained by the AASG for the Geothermal Data Project. The data table includes general information on the location of the spring, location uncertainty and remarks. Citations are included in the dataset. The ThermalSpringURI for a particular feature is the cross-referencing link (foreign key) used to associate the spring with any other web based information. The data is displayed using a temperature gradient color scheme ramping from green (cool) to red (hot). This map service is an information surface representing the maximum class within the soil map unit polygon for flooding frequency probability. Each component (and therefore soil map unit polygon) falls into one of the following classes according to NRCS: None, Very rare, Rare, Occasional, Frequent, and Very frequent. The goal of the National Wetlands Inventory is to provide the citizens of the United States and its Trust Territories with current geospatially referenced information on the status, extent, characteristics and functions of wetland, riparian, deepwater and related aquatic habitats in priority areas to promote the understanding and conservation of these resources. With growing interest in riparian habitats in the western U.S., the Service undertook early riparian mapping projects for several agencies in Arizona in the early 1990s. Additional projects were conducted for the National Park Service in Nevada, and the Bureau of Land Management in Wyoming. Each project included a variety of definitions, classifications,...
