This data release contains inputs for and outputs from hydrologic simulations of the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River Basin (ACFB) in the southeastern U.S. using the Precipitation Runoff Modeling System (PRMS). Seven hydrologic models, one coarse-resolution model for the entire ACFB and six fine-resolution models of tributary sub-basins. These simulations were developed to provide estimates of water availability and statistics of streamflow. These PRMS model input and output data are intended to accompany a U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Report (LaFontaine and others, 2017); they include three types of data: 1) PRMS input parameter and data files, 2) PRMS output data files, and 3) GIS files...
The Cape Fear and Pee Dee River Basins in North Carolina and South Carolina were chosen as a focus area study (FAS) for the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Water Census (NWC) in 2016. The objective of the NWC is to place technical information and tools in the hands of stake holders so that they can make decisions on water availability. The USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center, comprised of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia, conducted a 3-year study of water use and availability to provide information related to the competing societal and ecological water needs in the Southeastern Atlantic Coastal Basins of the Carolinas. One task to meet this objective was compiling water withdrawal and return...
The coastal region which includes areas within South Carolina and North Carolina was chosen as a focus area study (FAS) for the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Water Census (NWC) in 2016. The objective of the NWC is to place technical information and tools in the hands of stake holders so that they can make informed decisions on water availability. The USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center, comprised of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia, conducted a 3-year study of water use and availability, climate change, and population growth to provide information related to the competing societal and ecological water needs in the Southeastern Atlantic Coastal Basins of the Carolinas. The Coastal Carolinas...

The stream segments available here are for seven applications of the Precipitation Runoff Modeling System (PRMS) in the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River Basin (ACFB) by LaFontaine and others (2017). Geographic Information System (GIS) files for the stream segments in each of the seven model applications (whole ACFB, Chestatee River, Chipola River, Ichawaynochaway Creek, Potato Creek, Spring Creek, and Upper Chattahoochee River) are provided as shapefiles with attributes identifying the numbering convention used in the PRMS models of the ACFB.

As part of the National Water Census program in the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint (ACF) River Basin, the U.S. Geological Survey evaluated the groundwater budget of the lower ACF, with particular emphasis on recharge, characterizing the spatial and temporal relation between surface water and groundwater, and groundwater pumping. To evaluate the hydrologic budget of the lower ACF River Basin, a groundwater-flow model, constructed using MODFLOW-2005, was developed for the Upper Floridan aquifer and overlying semiconfining unit for 2008–12. Model input included temporally and spatially variable specified recharge, estimated using a preliminary version of a Precipitation-Runoff Modeling System (PRMS) model for the...
The hydrologic response units (HRUs) available here are for seven applications of the Precipitation Runoff Modeling System (PRMS) in the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River Basin (ACFB) by LaFontaine and others (2017).
