The text file "Air temperature.txt" contains hourly air temperature data in degrees Fahrenheit and associated data-source flags from January 1, 1948, to September 30, 2021. The primary data for water year 2021 (a water year is the 12-month period, October 1 through September 30, designated by the calendar year in which it ends) were downloaded from the Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) (Argonne National Laboratory, 2022) and they were processed following the guidelines documented in Over and others (2010). The processed data were appended to ARGN20.WDM (Bera, 2021) and renamed as ARGN21.WDM. Missing and apparently erroneous data values were replaced with adjusted values from nearby weather stations used as “backup.”...
In support of U.S. Geological Survey invasive carp research examining aggregations of invasive carp in the tail water of dams, water velocity measurements were made at cross sections in the Illinois River below Starved Rock Lock and Dam on June 16, 2021. A total of 16 cross sections were surveyed, with two transects per cross section. Water depth and crew safety limited the extent of the survey. The discharge in the Illinois River at Starved Rock Lock and Dam at the time of data collection was approximately 185.7 cubic meters per second. The data were processed in the Velocity Mapping Toolbox (VMT) v.4.09 (Parsons and others, 2013) to obtain a depth-averaged velocity field for each cross section from paired transects...

The text file "PET.txt" contains hourly potential evapotranspiration (PET) data, in thousandths of an inch, from January 1, 1948, to September 30, 2021. This data release is the update of the U.S. Geological Survey - ScienceBase data release Bera (2022b), with the processed data for the period October 1, 2020, through September 30, 2021. This data release describes the watershed data management (WDM) database SC21.WDM. The precipitation data are collected from a tipping-bucket rain-gage network and the hydrologic data (stage and discharge) are collected at USGS streamflow-gaging stations in and around DuPage County, Illinois. Hourly precipitation and hydrologic data for the period October 1, 2020, through September 30, 2021, are processed following the guidelines described in Bera (2014) and Murphy and Ishii (2006) and appended to SC20.WDM and renamed as SC21.WDM....
